In praise of my wife Bobbie

in Head and Neck Cancer #1
I am now 2 months out from 35 rads and 3 chemos, and seemingly doing well, comparativly.
on the 19th i go for lymph node extraction. But today my main reason for posting is to give thanks where thanks is due.
My wife Bobbie, has been right there with me through thick and thin. And that is saying something. I know that what cancer patients put their families through is not easy to take. But she has always been there for me and with a warm smile. She not only went with me to all my treatments but she drove me and accompanied me through everything. She has encouraged me, the whole time.I COULD NOT have made it this far without her. She is my rock, and i am so lucky to have her.
So If you have someone who has helped you get make it through the dark times, Dont forget to Let them know how much you appreciate Them.

    What a wonderful message to read about your wife Bobbie. I could not have survived without my husband, Scott. He was my rock. I feel lucky every day.

    Here we were in the living room listening to old time radio and both of us on our laptops. We ended up posting at almost the same moment on another thread (she is DrMary).

    Anyway, I can not let pass another opportunity to thank my wife. She was not only there for me 24/7 (she took off from work) but took over all the negotiations with doctors and decisions on what I was going to be treated with and how and what I was going to eat and drink. Without her, during the treatment, I am sure that I would have died (we were pretty close a couple of times).

    Over the course of these six months she has been making me and the family food I can eat though it is difficult to always come up with new and nutritious soft foods that are also enjoyable. She was careful in my refeeding regimen so that I got the right nutrition and wasn't brought back too quickly.

    So, yes, she is my rock. Give your rock a hug. Doug

    My mom and I were the caregivers for my dad, as he went through treatment. I know that he feels the same way. It is nice to see this in writing. Thank you!

    Hi, Tonyb. Amen to the appreciation to our wives. This sounds like my situation as well. My wife, Sue has been with me every inch of the way and she is a rock solid supporter, cheerleader, and drill sergeant when she has to be. I cannot begin to imagine how I would have survived this ordeal without her constant support. The caregivers for cancer patients have my enormous respect and thanks.
