I finished my last chemo on 3/1 and a week ago I gained 10 lbs in one week. Before that my weight had stayed steady at 120 for over 4 months. now I am 129 lbs.
My legs and feet are swollen. My doc says it's water weight, probably from the Taxatere. He says I just have to let it go away naturally. It might take a few months. But it is inhibiting me from walking and doing other exercises. Does anyone have suggestions?

I too swelled around the time of my last chemo. My eyelids were swollen too. My pcp gave me Lasix and it helped get rid of the excess fluids. Wish you well.

I would think your oncologist could give you Lasix or some other water pill to help you to get rid of that water. Ask him and see.

    Me too
Last cycle - Taxotere and Cytoxin. Oncologist prescribed Lasix, but it didn't really help. But it might help you. My instructions were to take as needed. I decided it wasn't working, so didn't take it anymore. Maybe that's why it didn't help.

The swelling finally went away on its own in about 2 months. I did worry about it, tho. In hindsight, I worried a lot about a lot of things during chemo. Chemo is scarey because some of the strangest things happen.

I did ask for Lasix. Onco says no for now. Afraid of dehydration and vitamin deficiencies. He says it should resolve itself in a few months but this is very uncomfortable. Was hoping for a natural remedy? Starting radiation next week.

Thanks so much. I worry about everything, too. Had lots of strange stuff happen. Glad to hear that it does resolve itself over time. Did you try any natural remedies for water retention that you think helped you?
