Worried - How long did you have to wait after lumpectomy before your doctor check you?

I had a lumpectomy on Wednesday and came home the same day. The doctor cannot check my incision until this Friday. That is 1-1/2 half weeks after the surgery. I am concerned that I should not have to wait that long to make sure everything is alringht.

    My appt was
My appointment was 2 weeks after surgery. At that appt I was told I needed another surgery in few weeks. That one was to check margins and make sure they got it all.

I was told to call if I had any problems before the 2 week follow up appt.

    That was my schedule, too
In and out for the lumpectomy, and then follow up visit with surgeon 10 days later. Had final pathology report at that time. Everything was fine and he said bye, see you in 6 months.

Your follow-up after your lumpectomy is consistent with mine.

Sounds like we had the same thing but I had the other surgery which I was concerned about.Just as they were getting me prepped for the first surgery another tumor was found. It was benign the first one malignant. The way it turned out I needed the second surgery after all. Two days before my scheduled second surgery I found another lump(benign).SO I guess it turned out OK.

Its just you hear"Why didn't they get it all the first time"? They did but another popped up before the second surgery.

I always said nothing happens to me unless it is complicated.Nothing goes as expected for me.My doctor was scared and I was terrified.

    Surgery
I think most surgeries you wait 1 to 2 weeks until you see the Dr. just like having a baby you wait unless your having trouble.I had a mastectomy had to wait 7 days couldn't take a shower i couldn't get the bandage wet. is this your first surgery for anything? I hope you don't have to have anymore surgery my aunt had a lumpectomy she's doing fine she's in her 70's. hang in there where all here for you. hugs MOLLYZ

    Thanks for your input
I am glad to hear that my follow up appointment is in line with others. This is not my first surgery. I have been cancer free for 4-5 years depending if you count date of last treatment or date cancer was discovered. I was in such a state back then that I don't remember all details such as how long before the following up appointment. This surgery is to find out if cancer has returned. I should receive the results of the reports on Friday when I go to see the doctor.

    Thanks again,

Wishing you the best Friday. Hope things go fine for you. A benign tumor.

I had this with my breast cancer surgery.2 more tumors(benign) added to the malignant . 1st and 2nd surgery. All turned out fine.I've had benign tumors since I was 20. Now 64.Breast cancer diagnosis at 62. 60-80 is the age we are more at risk from what I read but seeing all the different ages it seems like it can be ANY time.

My surgeon saw me the day
My surgeon saw me the day after my lumpectomy, and then, a week after that.

do not worry - 1st visit 10 days after was my schedule too
    Hi Tricky

I had a Lumpectomy, Centennial Note 14 lymph notes removed on Valentine's day (Feb-14)
My surgeon want to see me 10 day later and last week, which was 6th weeks after surgery.

I had been diagnosed also with DCIS so oncologist will have to give me more info this week ( my 1st consultation).

Also my surgeon suggested to use Cream with Vitamin E on scars (I have 3 scars plus additional spots after biopsy).
I find it that from beginning any Cream was too difficult to apply on sore area so I got product called Bio-Oil (which liquid) and massaging in to scars twice a day (morning & evening).

I must tell you it made a HUGE difference. My boob's texture changed from "Lumpy-Bumpy" to be more "normal" to touch (less scar tissues) and scars are healing very nicely.
Plus my skin is glowing, so now I am using it also on my face :o)

    Good luck
    Helen
