failed sterotactic biopsy

Well, the images were taken and the freezing was put in and then the red light appeared on the firing gun for the sample to be taken. Was told needle was too big and spot too small, now looking at excisional biopsy by surgeon. I can do this or wait and go for mammograms every six months for two years, if no change then apparently i am in the clear.

Boy, my neves are rattled. Not sure what to do, tech said she has been in the business for 30 years and suggested to get it all out now by surgeon, sounded even more suspicious, well, i looked myself at the mammogram and in between a circle of microcalcifications are odd looking cells also, the tip of the cell looks sharp. Anybody have any ideas or similar stories. I am very confused.

    Be safe than sorry....I'm not a fan of "let's watch it"...my bc ,found by myself, was discovered less than 3 months after a mammo and ultrasound...an aggressive, fast growing bc...If it were me, I would elective to have it removed...peace of mind is worth a million!

    I am the not-so-proud recipient of two failed biopsies and it just plain SUCKS!!! My cluster of microcalcs are midline to the nipple and up against the chest wall, so they can see them on regular mammo, as well as spot mags, but when I lay on the table to get the biopsy done, they are too close to the chest wall for the mammo machine to get them from underneath. One of these attempts was even at a Breast Center in Atlanta that specializes in this stuff. This coming May will be a year that I have had the nagging thought practically every day that maybe... just maybe... and what will it be when they finally can "get it". I have another cluster in the same breast that noone is too awful concerned about. If you, like me, will be plagued by worry every day, I would suggest that you get the excisional biopsy. Then it's out, you know, and you deal with whatever it is, or isn't, from there on out. I hope all goes well for you. Regardless of what you decide to do, the ladies on this site are a stellar group of women. They will be right by your side, in spirit, with whatever you decide.

    My tumor was very very teeny. Found but my breast surgeon said it was so small that maybe the wrong tissue would be taken with a biopsy.I didn't care I just wanted someone to get the thing out and tested.Finally the radiation doctor was given the OK to do the needle biopsy.Malignant.I was not happy.Two months later it was taken out.I was upset because of the unknown and something that serious was ignored.I had those fears of it spreading.All turned out but still you worry.

    Don't let yourself continue with the worry and the possiblity it gets bigger and spreads(if it is malignant.I have to assume you dont know yet. It would have to be removed before knowing. Or a piece taken for a biopsy.
