Just thought I would share this link with everyone. I learned this is good stuff! I am probably the last person to know this, but doesn't hurt to share.

    If...
Your getting ready to start chemo, you shouldn't take anything like this without checking with your oncologist first

We used to go get fresh
We used to go get fresh squeezed wheat grass juice and I really got a rush from it. Not sure how it could interfere w/ chemo but with anything strong it's best to make sure.

    I get some
every time I shop at Whole foods. You need a special juicer for what grass
and I don't have one. But I would like to grow my own and add that juicer
    to my arsenal.

As you may have seen on my other posts I am a juicing enthusiast.

Your counts are the lowest seven to ten days after your treatment. That period of time is called the Nadir.

It is because of the infection risk. All meats must be cooked to temp. Anything below temp could still have
bacteria. No raw fruits or veggies. Anything that is grown will naturally have bacteria and fungi from the growing
(Manure etc.) process. Washing it is not good enough because the bacteria, fungi, and chemicals soak through the
skin and is actually in the fruit or veggie itself. Some thick skinned fruits like bananas, avocado is allowed, if washed a
certain way. All dairy must be pasturized. No honey. These were my instructions from my oncologist.

While the bacteria, fungi and chemicals do not harm healthy people, it can cause massive and fatal infection for
someone who is neutropenic (low white cell counts). I didn't have low counts till the very end of my chemo.

WHILE my oncologist told me to avoid eating raw foods, I thoroughly washed everything and cheated. I CRAVED RAW fruit
and veggies!! Not a big meat person. SO I ate them after washing all completely and did not encounter any stomach problems
due to contaminated food. I made exceptions here and there, but most of the time I just cooked my veggies (like they do
    with the indian cuisine).

I am determined to eat healthy food and not junk to help me recover from the toxic chemo effects. I managed to loose 12 lbs
and am very happy with that result.

    I had a wheatgrass juicer.....
and I ended up selling it. I lived in Ohio then and I couldn't grow the wheatgrass all year around. It was also very hard to clean the juicer. It is very easy to grow but it takes A LOT of the wheatgrass to get a glass full out of the juicer. Just thought I'd share.

    Check with your onc
before starting any type of vitamin therapy. I was only allowed to take Vitamin D (I am deficient) and calcium during chemo and rads. I was not allowed ANY raw foods (I did get an ok to have salad at home after my 5th of 6 chemo treatments but only if I triple washed it).
People kept telling me I needed to take vitamins and supplements to build up my immunity, but I only listen to my onc who would not approve it until after I'm through treatment--would be counter-productive he said.
