TSUNAMI in Santa Cruz

Here in Santa Cruz, we have 20 boats that have sunk, over 100 damaged and 14 million in damages from the tsunami.
This is nothing compared to what Japan suffered and is suffering.
We are still awaiting news from my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, it's proving to be a long wait, we've been trying since 10:00 pm last night to get a hold of them. But we are understanding the land and cell phone lines are down, and apparently the email system is as well.
Love to you all,
Winter Marie

    holding out hope
    Hi Marie,

I read that about Santa Cruz- it's amazing to me that much damage could still be caused from an earthquake so very far away. Here in San Diego, we've been fine.
I do hope that you will hear from brother in law and sister in law soon, although you will probably have quite a wait before they can restore all the communication systems.
I will pray that they are all right.

    Take care-
    Lisa

We received an email from my husbands family in Japan at 8 pm US eastern time. I hope you hear from your family soon. From every indication it seems as though people are okay, but just can not contact anyone. Some people are stranded away from their homes.

Very happy you heard from your family. I think that they are probably stranded in Tokyo, they live just outside there but both work in Tokyo. I saw the bullet train and other trains are not working so this may be the case.
Thank you all for your good thoughts. I just thought in the cell phone world even through disasters that they would still work, but apparently cell phone towers must be down here and there.

Sorry for this devatation. We were in Santa Cruz almost three years ago + found it to be absolutely beautiful. We helped the economy a little by buying a few beautiful things there. I hope no more damage is happening.
