I am going to assume that my (very out of the ordinary, for me) vaginal dryness is a Tamoxifen side effect. But, I am bleeding a lot from a normal, average encounter. Is there anything I should do tonight to reduce my chance for infection? I'll be calling my doc in the a.m.

Jeeez!!

    I don't know
    Dear Candace,

I don't know what you can do tonight ... others may know. But it is a good thing to call your ob/gyn. One of the side effects of Tamoxifen is dryness and bleeding. They'll need to check you out ASAP. Keep us posted!

    I agree with Dawn....
Good to check with your doc...but, yeah, I take Tamoxifen, and have both, too....

When it gets particularly bad, I use Replens to help...

Do they use general anesthesia for this procedure? Is it the same m.o. As surgery?

Have doc check it out first
Here are the common GYN adverse effects for tamoxifen listed on epocrates:
    vaginal discharge
    menstrual irregularities
    vaginal bleeding
    vaginal dryness
    vulvar pruritus (itching)

But since uterine cancer can be a very serious adverse effect of tamoxifen, you need to have your GYN check this out. If the cause is vaginal (as opposed to uterine) bleeding, there are many vaginal lubricants that may help reduce friction and reduce this symptom. You might try a long acting one like Replens every few days and then a short acting one before intercourse (ky, astroglide, etc.).
