Update about my mom

Since I have posted on this board before, I though I have to update you about my mom's diagnosis. Unfortunately, her second oncologist ruled out the breast cancer possibility and none of her tests could lead to the primary tumor. She is going to be treated now for cancer of unknown primary. She is starting radiotherapy on Friday followed by chemotherapy.

It all depends on the chemotherapy if it is going to work or not. Please pray for her.If anyone was diagnosed in the beginning with cancer of unknown primary please let us know. We are still hoping that the primary tumor will be found which will make the treatment more effective.

Thank you all for reading my posts in the last couple of weeks and for offering advices.I will post later when my mom starts her treatment to get some advices about dealing with the side effects. Have a great day.

Daye

    Unknown Primary
Initially I was diagnosed with cancer of an unknown primary. It was 1st detected in my axillary lymph nodes. Nothing has ever been found in my breast tissue. It was not until a tissue sample was sent to Pathwork Diagnostics in Redwood City, CA that the pathologist was able to determine that the primary site was indeed my breast. They are the ONLY lab in the U.S. doing this particular test. It is called the Tissue of Origin test. I highly recommend it. It made all the difference in the world to me.

    God is with you...
Hi- I hope everything turns out OK with your mom. I am sorry you are going through this. Have FAITH everything will be fine.

I am new to this, but I was wondering, can't a PET-CT find additional information about original tumors? sorry to add more questions to yours - but I am also trying to understand how science works in cases like these.

    Prayers for your mom...
