My dad's EC seems to have popped up in his lung

My dad had surgery to remove biopsy a 1cm nodule that "lit up" on PET test and grew slightly in the last 3-4 months. He will be in hospital until at least Monday. The dr says he heals well and is not worried about recovery from this procedure. They will be taking to the oncologist for the next step and are taking this 1 day at a time.

I haven't posted on here as much lately, but post when I feel that I can add something to the discussion or pitch in. I respect the csn family very much--it helped me get thru some dark days early on....My dad was diagnosed wih EC 8/4/09, had surgery 12/7/09 and been clear until now. HE goes to DUKE for his treatment & follow ups. He is still thin, but has been very active and even returned to light duty as a volunteer firefighter (which he has done for 50 years & loves it). HE recently has won firefighter of the year for his county and some other awards. I am very proud of him. I know this was caught early but that it means EC cells are "floating" around... I haven't been able to think clearly today, but I guess I am going to have to get back on that research train I was on when he was first diagnosed.

If anyone has suggestions, they are welcome. I do think my parents are going to very loyal to Duke. They have been wonderful and they feel that they saved his life once already.

Unfortunately, this time last year we found out my dad's younger brother also had EC---he passed 3 months later in May.

thanks in advance
Kim

You are in my thoughts and prayers
Kim, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am sorry you are having to worry and be concerned about your dad's health again. It sounds like your dad is a really great guy, how special he won that award, being a volunteer after going through ec is pretty impressive!

Please keep us posted on your dad's biopsies and know I am praying for good results for him and your family. It is so important for your dad to go where he feels comfortable, and Duke has been good to him.

    Hello Kim and Dad
Just wanted to let you know I am thinking and praying for you both. Duke is an excellent hospital, I see no reason for him to change. May God bless you and give you the strength and peace you will all need at this difficult time. Hugs to you all. Let us know how you are doing. :)
