1st chemo tomorrow just a big thanks to everyone who posts, feel like a have learned so much from everyone and feeling pretty confident. Am a bit worried on how the body will react to the drugs since I am not on anything have been healthy to this point but time will tell. And like my doc said stay in touch cause any side effects there maybe something out there to help with it. my 2 girls 31 and 27 are going with me so it will be nice to have their support. Di

    Your 1st Chemo
    Hi Di,

I just wanted to wish you good luck with your 1st chemo. You have already gotten a lot of good advice so I will not repeat any of that. I think the hardest part on the 1st day was just walking in the door of the infusion area. I had 16 rounds of chemo myself. You can do this. I am glad your daughters will be there with you to lend moral support. My husband went with me the 1st few times. Once I was comfortable with the whole thing and knew what to expect I told him I would call when I needed to be picked up. I will be there with you in spirit.

    Hi Di,

Glad you got the support you needed. I had my first chemo just last Thurs. So I'll be right there with you! I was so uptight when they started the drip... and the nurse said to me, Look at all these people around you, they're doing okay, you'll be okay too!
I guess it helped (a little)
Anyway everyone was right, the unknown was the worst, plus, I'd read some pretty harrowing stories, none of which happened to me.

    First chemo was terrifying
First chemo was terrifying to me. I watch too many movies and my chemo was, of course, not as dramatic as I had imagined. I just know you're going to be fine and I'm so glad you have your girls with you. Best wishes and warmest thoughts.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you begin your tx. On my first visit (A/C) I was so afraid that I was literally shaking in my boots. I have a port and they couldn't get blood return. They tried several times and each time I got significantly more nervous. Finally one nurse, Elaine, came in and bingo! first try! I love Elaine. She is now my fav nurse! You are blessed to have such wonderful daughters! I wish my daughters( I have 3) could have been with me, but I am blessed to have my hubby, my "rock."

Good luck tomorrow. I'm sure it won't be as awful as you imagined it to be.

    First time
The first time you do anything ... it's scary. But you've got all of us right there with you ... with our "virtual hugs" and holding your hand. It is a bit crowded ... but it is amazing ... somehow we always seem to squeeze in right there next to you.

We're all in this together ... and do let us know how you're doing.

    hugs.

I think there must be a personality screening for onc nurses. Mine were all wonderful, I hope yours are too. It's good that your daughters will be there for you today. Hopefully you get to do something else together today...breakfast, lunch, shopping, movie.

Come back and let us know how you're doing.

    Hugs,
