Hello - I have met some of you on chat and thank you all for the uplifting of spirits. All those I have met have been such nice people with terrific humour and never failed to make me laugh :-)

I have put our story on my page but bottom line is husband Stage IV lung cancer with mets to the brain and I am newly emigrated to the USA and learning daily on the fly.

I decided I wanted to be more involved with this site so posting this so that hopefully you will get to know me and my dry Brit humour :-) And btw- I spell in English not American ;-)

Hello UKlady and welcome to you and your husband to our discussion board. How is your husband dealing with his cancer? Is he in current treatment? Has he had any surgery? You will always find support here. We will always be thinking and praying for you. I look forward to meeting you on chat as well, as long as I can log onto chat!

    Welcome!
Welcome UKLady! I don't know what part of the country you're living in, but down here in Florida snowballs are delightfully saccharine chocolate cakes covered in delicious artificial marshmallow topping and coated with sugary pink coconut! None of that frozen stuff for me, thanks.

    Hi Miss Lady
Welcome to the family :) I'm sorry you're here but glad you could make it in. It's been decidedly crazy for me lately so if I'm not as "here" as I should be please don't be frustrated. Anything you need just ask.

And the key is to be the thrower of the snowball, not the reciever.

Hi UKLady, Sorry to meet you
Hi UKLady, Sorry to meet you under these circumstances, but welcome aboard. If you're looking to find out what snowballs are, I am thinking you are in a snowy part of the country. Then again, that might be almost anywhere in the US this year.

There are a lot of really knowledgeable and supportive people that you will find here; and they understand and care. And as far as spelling goes, it doesn't count here (thank God).

    Hello Tina in Va!

Lots of info on mycsn space about the *situation*- bottom line he is inoperable-had whole brain radiation and now chemo second line.

None of this seems to be addressing the pain he has at the site of primary tumour in lung. He has just had a nerve blocking procedure this week- so fingers crossed he might have some quality of life with what time is left.

The radiation to brain mets is the hardest to deal with-he is switching his lights off almost daily now...............

Look forward to meeting you on chat some time :-)

    Hello Penny

I have been sending you my kindest thoughts the last few weeks. As to the snowballs-yes the *girls* on chat sent me after the chocolate kind- as a Brit I am very familiar with the icy kind :-) And too much snow here in Tx of late as well- brrrrrh!

I have this stress thing and an ongoing relationship with English chocolate in the Brit aisle so I am on a quest to possibly find another addiction :-)

    Hi Jennie

    Hello Neverquit

Looking for the marshmallow snowballs- I may get distracted by other treats in the process but who cares these days? :-)

I am from the Lone Star State now- used to be on the south coast of Englande and a 16th century village with thatched roofs! So lovely to meet you all (zinniemay still teaching me to say y'allll and fixin' to-though truthfully it ain't gonna happen :-) )

Lots of lovely caring people here with a wealth of knowledge and I look forward to getting to know you despite the circumstances :-)

    Newbie also
I'm new to this also. My husband has stage III rectal cancer, dx on 12/1/10. We live in the Panhandle of TX. Check the convienence stores for the snowballs.

He's finished with radiation/chemo and we see the surgeon on Monday, I'm really nervous about this next phase, not sure what to expect.

As Joe said Humor and Hope Me I say Debbie Cakes for all
Uk My friend, I know we know each other but have never met. I am a person who uses humor to excape things I can not control. Debbie cakes are great comfort . I know this to well even my children know this. As my daughter came home with 8 boxes of Debbie Cakes and said "You better make them last a week" She smiled and walked away. She did not wait to see the the silly smile on my face. I know in this humor someday they will remember mom and her Debbie cakes. And maybe chuckle a little too.
The SnowBalls are a different cake they are round cake with cream in center, and covered in marshmallow with coconut... I know them oh so well. I always eat the cake and then roll the out side up and eat it last. Kind of my answer to the Oreo Cookie.
My humor is the only way I can cope. Now I wonder where is my piece of Carrot cake you made? I am not so loyal to just Debbie Cakes.
I hope as you read this you chuckle , wait a second then take a sip of your tea and think of me.
    Your friend
    Jennie
