I know that I have mentioned a number of times that a woman in my local support group - and a neighbor of my good friend Sue - was an 11+ year survivor of OC. Even though she was never in remission for long periods (the longest was 12 months), she was working full time, up until a few months ago, when tumors started popping up on her back. She received chemo but the disease began to spread rapidly and finally overtook her organs. Kathy died yesterday.

We (local group) still have one 10+ year survivor. She was diagnosed at stage IIIc and did the standard carbo/taxol routine and has never had a recurrence.

Never, ever give up. Where there is breath, there is hope.

    SO SORRY, CARLENE
Sorry to hear about Kathy. I have a friend who's sister's friend is also very, very ill. But there are many encouraging stories as well, and those are the ones we must hold on to and see as hope for all of us. I don't know if and when we will ever see a cure, but some progress in treatment options, detection, etc. would be much welcomed.

    Sending hugs and prayers.
