I fired my brain doc

Yep, I fired the idiot. When a brain doc puts you on a drug like Keppra and you have major problems with side effects. Like thoughts of suicide, chills and blurred vision. All of them being on the known list of bad side effects. I explained all of this to the doc and he says I should see my primary doc (primary doc did not prescribe this drug for me) and a head shrinker for the depression part. Yeah, I be a little loony at times.

There was no question but to fire him. Doctors are not gods. This doc could not pour piss out of a boot if the directions were on the heel. If he did not understand that I should be put on a different drug, I sure as hell don’t want him in my brain with a knife.

Kerry (got an attitude going today)

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do
Have to agree with you about the doc. If he doesn't have more than one drug in his bag to help with the effects without adding all the other issues into the mix, he deserved to be fired.

Hope you get a new one ASAP so that you can get on with dealing with that tumor.

    Hugs,

    Ker.... old boy..

    Re:

Dunno boss... you might want to think hard with that one.

Most good surgeons are so wrapped up trying to keep up with
the latest surgical procedures, they don't have time to spend
studying drugs and side-effects (all of which the manufacturer
doesn't always include in data sheets). In fact, most great surgeons
wouldn't be able to tell you what pain killer will interfere with
whatever other drug you're taking. They just don't have time for
the petty post-surgical upkeep; they've done their job to keep
you alive through surgery / thank you; pay at the door.

So..... he might be the best surgeon for your noggin, but not
the best for a prescription. Follow'n me with that?

I hate to burn bridges; it's a #*%*# wadin' through the swamp.

    Good health, ehh?

    John old buddy

At first this guy said, after looking at the MRI, they could cut it out or burn it out with kind of Cyberknife. He even told me how he would cut a hole in my right temple to get to it. Then a week later he says it was too big to go either way. He also said it was cancer, without reading the MRI report on it. I just don’t trust him. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck. You got yourself a damn duck.

    Ahhh....

So there was more to that story, ehh? I didn't see it comin'.

I lost my ESP capabilities back in the early 60s, I don't know if it
was the marriage, drugs, or the pot... Maybe the marriage...?

    Take care, OM.

    Kerry, darlin'.....
I wouldn't recognize you WITHOUT an attitude!!!

The one thing I always say to newbies is "have faith in your treatment team. Otherwise, get a new team...this is your life you are trusting them with!!!!".

Sad that you must deal with this, as well as everything else!!!

BTW, how is the plumbing reconnect going? Still good???

did you hit the doc on the head with the old pissy boot?
    kerry but seriously brave call.
its not easy placing faith in docs and then having to piss them off.
    i imagine its like divorce.
so get a second and a third opinion asap if you want and pick the best surgeon based any of the following criteria
    1. is the doctor sexy
    2. does the doctor look and sound smart
    3. is he really cheap
    4. has he done something similar or are you to be his first and they want to practice on you
5... the selection list just goes on and on

I actually in a sense agreed with john23 points as well as agreeing with your reasons.
its nice that we can just express a caring opinion even if its a bit different.

i really wish all docs could be as caring as we are.

the challange is to find the best doc for you right now!

goodluck brave tough cantankerous old coot.

    Go, Kerry!
    Hi Kerry,

Like was said above, "you gotta do what you gotta do!"
If you don't feel comfortable w/ a doctor, then it's time to move on. I stayed with my first onc for over a year and a half, when I realized several mistakes he made at about the 10 month point. I actually liked him personally, he just didn't know everything he was supposed to do & that was obviously not acceptable. Since he was so nice and caring, I had a very hard time "firing" him. Finally, when I was about to do it, the insurance group made the change for me (I was actually told there were complaints from several patients & they had investigated & found I would better be served elsewhere. Interesting, huh?) Anyhow, I'm glad you didn't wait any longer. Now, the trick will be in finding a new one that you are comfortable with asap. The fun begins!

    Take care you crazy koot!

Time for a new doc with some new ideas
Kerry... I think it's great. Sometimes the best thing is a new doctor with freash eyes and new ideas to look at things.

    Keep us updated
