So, I caught an episode of The Doctors (not the one with Nick & Althea!) and they had a Shake Weight on it. I'm always leary of the 'As seen on TV' stuff, but this was being touted as an okay thing. Hey, I think, that looks easy.

First you have to grasp the stupid thing - have I ever mentioned the arthritis in my thumbs? Omg, that hurt, but hey, I thought again, I can do it!

NO, I CAN'T! I woke up aching from stem to stern. That stupid thing goes back and I buy a bottle of wine with the $20. From now on, I just walk and dance to the oldies.

I've seen the episode where they try "tv gimmicks". The shake weight is not for me either. I'm lucky if I can walk and stand. lol

Sue .. I swear you made me laughed so hard .. I've seen
that gizmo on TV many a times, and invisioned myself getting slimmer by the minute. Having a bilateral 1-12-10, and several subsequent reconstructive surgeries - along with my tissue expander exchange .. I stopped, cuz I knew I would be asking for trouble! I could see myself in the ER getting casts on both arms, due to the over usage of that fantastic shaker! LOL

I guess what they say is true, if it appears easy or free - it's not worth your effort of time.

    We have bought so
many of those exercise things from TV and most of them are not for the "older" generation. I was never big on exercise anyway. I have found that water aerobics is a great way to work out. It is a lot of fun and does a lot of good. I have lost weight and inches since I started. I go twice a week and would highly recommend it. Oh, and by the way, I can't swim!

    Very funny
You had me laughing- didn't just return the stupid thing but bought wine with the refund- classic!

I didn't know what it was so I googled it- you're right, it LOOKS easy, but you know what I once saw many years ago that also looked so easy? Did you ever hear of the EPI-Lady hair removal device? Easier than shaving, etc.? It cost about $79 in 1980's money, but I hated shaving, and hey, it looks so easy! So I bought it and nearly died- it was the most painful thing I had ever felt! I tried it on my outside lower calf, not a particularly sensitive area...if I ever went near my bikini area with it I'm sure I would have ended up in the emergency room. It stayed unused in a drawer for a few years before I finally threw it out. I still get sqeamish just thinking about it >>shudder<<

Just think about how much wine I could have bought instead!

    Best,
    Susan

    Susan,
I do remember the Epi-lady. More painful than childbirth. But just to be sure, I tried again, cuz I must have done it wrong the first time. Nope - it was more painful than childbirth.
