pain in left side of abdomen?

hello,
i am Victoria - 44 y.o, new to this site,
was diagnozed with ovca 3c- two month ago and had my hysterectomy on november 15th.
Should start chemo next week.Have constant pain in my left side of abdomen, i think closer to liver area, sometimes it even causes shortness of breath? any suggestions / thoughts? i spoke to my gyn - he said it could be soreness after surgery,or even if it is cancer - it will be trated with chemo.
of course i have lots of questions - as i am new and still in shock state of mind...

    Hi Victoria,
    I know I was sore after surgery but I don't remember anything specific in one spot or another. Just sore all over my abdomen.
    I was diagnosed 2C June 2009.

    Yes, it is shocking and scary! The pain you are feeling is very likely post surgery soreness. Did the surgeon mention how successful the debulking surgery was? Either way, the chemo cocktail you will mostly likely be starting is very effective. 80% of people respond postively to it. Try not to worry. Easier said then done I know!!! As you get further in your treatment you will probably have more questions. Keep us updated on how things go.

    thank you for your reply. Og course like all of us i hope for the best and doing my best to stay focused and optimistic. at the time of my surgery i was so bloated i looked like 9 mo pregnant with twins. dr's drained 14 leters of fluid out of me, cancer was on apendix, lining and on liver, but not inside liver.. at least that is what all the scans showed. dr's were happy with the way debulking went, they scrab everything from liver and other parts, but said there some left - smaller that 1cm and goal is for chemo to take care of it.
    sorry - if i am not too detailed - i am not too familiar yet with the lingo, but unfortunately i think i will be as time goes by.
    I am sure i will have more questions....

    of course you're still in shock. I'm guessing your pain is from your surgery, but most of us here get worried when we experience pains. Most of the time these pains appear to be unrelated. I wish you every success with your chemo treatments. You have come to the right place to find advice or just to vent. I was diagnosed 3c in May of 2006.

    Be sure and let your medical team know about the pain.

    My oncologist-who was also my surgeon always tells me, he worries about pains that are consistent, rather than fleeting. If pain is continuous then that is cause for concern.

    i am seeing my dr next tuesday - i will bring this up for sure.
    as we already know i had cancer spread on liver and liver was scrabbed during surgery...

    but now i will celebrate NY with my lovely family

    it may be fluid hurting
    i also hurt and it was from all the fluid

    I had abdominal pain for a
    I had abdominal pain for a long time after my de-bulking surgery. It eventually went away. I think it's just because of the huge insult that type of surgery is to our bodies. But your doctor is right....even if it is from residual cancer, the chemo will take care of it. Same thing for the ascites...the chemo will keep it from building up again.

    and I'm so sorry you had to join this board. Pain after surgery is pretty normal, I think, especially with starting the chemo before everything is all healed up inside. Wishing you the best on in all your treatment. Please dont hesitate to come back anytime and give us your updates.
