Dr Oz says Beans, Pinto and Red Beans have the highest form on antioxidants! Wow, here's to the upcoming gss, going to crock pot me some beans!!

He also states Beets, gets the blood pumping to the heart and other organs, delivering oxygen to the mets/tumors and destroying them! Boil beet, rub under water and take skin off and grate onto your salad or side dish. I think he said add balsamic vinegar and it tastes really good. He also juices the whole beet and it's greens each and every morning.

Cancer hates beans and beets like it loves sugar!!

Please remember, however, to watch your antioxidant intake during chemo and radiation. Antioxidants will decrease the effect of many forms of chemo and rads.

When not in treatment, keep up the antioxidants. This from Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Hi, Alice is it? While your intentions are clearly good and you are simply repeating a common theme in the medical field, the fact is that the facts don't prove your statement. There is no clear evidence that antioxidants have a negative effect on chemotherapy treatment. I have done much reading on conventional and alternative treatments and the general consensus among cancer survivors is that a combination of therapies works better than simply one or the other. Oncologists even vary in their opinions and usually will tend to leave it up to personal choice since they CANNOT legaly recommend you take antioxidants at all. Most the studies on the subject are flawed. Personally, if i'm going somewhere, I like to ask for directions from someone who's been there rather than the guy sitting in a factory making the map. My take, I loaded up on antioxidants during my treatment. I did six weeks chemo/radiation, had a COMPLETE RESPONSE, have ZERO after effects from either. I just did my 1 year colonoscopy plus an EUS and (without surgery)I am considered NED one year after diagnosis. Things can change for any of us any day but for now, I believe I made the right choice.
    Take care, Chris

    Rinse and drain
The beans and the gas is not nearly as bad plus you get rid of all the sodium that is usually added to them.

When making chili, rinsing the beans really changed the taste of the beans and the chili.

I juiced beets twice a day (with celery, cabbage, and carrots) back in my fighting days. I never cared for them before but really like them now especially in salad. In ancient China they were considered "magic food" so poor families grew beets and gave them to royalty to get their class status upgraded.

The fact is that chemo and
The fact is that chemo and radiation work by oxidizing the cancer cells. Anti-oxidants work against this process, and therefore, must be used with care and in conjunction with drs advice, as should any supplement or medication, while in treatment for cancer.

My resource is Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - one of the pre-eminent cancer centers in the world.

    http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/96363.cfm

Despite our precautions, however, some people will recover, and some will not. And many heavy smokers live long lives, while non-smokers get lung cancers. I will not pick my treatment based on the word of other survivors, tho I respect and appreciate the input, and consider it in my interactions with my drs. I want experts who have studied cancer, and seen thousands (or in my case of a very rare cancer, hundreds) of cases.

Your choice worked for you, and that is good. However, I still want to share with others the information that may help them in their recoveries, and not doing things to thwart treatment is high on the list.

    Wishing us all good health,

    Alice
