What a year! I can't wait for it to be over. I went to a urologist today, because my last few urine samples have had small amounts of blood in them. I have to have another ultrasound next week. Then on December 20 I have to have cystoscopy. They wanted to do it on December 1st, but that is my exchange surgery. Hard to coordinate all these doctor appointments.

Has anyone had a cystoscopy? Just wondering how uncomfortable they are.

Just something else for me to worry about.........Can't take much more...

Hugs, Jean

    hope it goes well
For you! I'm not sure what that is but just doesn't sound any fun! How do you know there is blood in urine? are you in pain when you go? Do you test for it?
    And I agree...bring on 2011!!!

    Hi ccincin,
A Cystoscopy is when they use a Cycstocope (like a telescope or microscope) to see inside your bladder & urethra. This all started last December when I had pain in my lower left side of my stomach. They did a urine test and that's how they found the blood in my urine. I have no pain when I pee and I can't see the blood. Hugs, jean

it never ends, does it! I think my sil had that test a few years ago. She was peeing frequently but not much was coming out. She has to avoid anything with caffiene and other foods. I do know she takes medication. Unfortunately I don't know whether the test itself hurt. Try not to worry about it. You have enough going on with the exchange surgery coming up. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Jean--it all just sucks doesn't it?!
My friend had microscopic blood in her urine--went through all the tests, cysto, IVP, etc. and guess what--nothing found. Hopefully, this will be you too. I think they numb the urethra, it's a bit uncomfortable, but like we all say here--doable!!

I'm sure CypressCynthia would give you the professional low-down on the procedure.

    Good luck,
    Hugs, Renee

I had that test about twenty years ago. It does not hurt. You don't feel anything. No worries.
