Are there many of you who have friends/ family who don't go for regular OB/gyn visits? My close friend was with me through my surgery etc...and knows I caught mine early-yet hasn't been to doctor in years. I have been bugging her endlessly and she made an appt.

When I say if I waited it could have been so bad...so even if I get just one person to listen and go..I"LL be happy.

I never miss my annual OB/GYN or gastro etc...I am like 'clock work' and proud of it!

    I do too
I have several friends and family who are that way. I have been staying on them too. I never miss having my yearly check up either. I know that is what made a big difference for me is catching it early. God Bless

    I go yearly too. I can't
I go yearly too. I can't imagine not doing that.

Coincidentally, I went yesterday. We discussed possible hysterectomy as I am getting nervous about having come so far and still having ovaries, uterus, etc. He immediately did an endometrial biopsy (yuck I hate those). Everything was fine per exam.

By the way, it was my GYN who so incredibly wisely insisted on putting me on boniva and evista (like tamoxifen) after the rib fractures. I thought that was overkill. He had really good instincts there and he has been my GYN since 1985 so he knew my entire story. When the ribs turned out to be mets it could have been so much worse!

    I never miss
and thankfully so. Catching it early is a blessing. My sister waited a yr after my dx for a mammo, even though she had concerns. She is still waiting for results.

I register and schedule appts in a prime care facility. When our female pts try to wiggle out of their annuals, I have a little chat with them. I do not try to scare the daylights out of them, I do not tell them about my bc. But I coddle, convince, persuade and cajole them into making those very important appts.

Use me as an example (bad one)
I was one of those women that didn't go yearly. It had been many years since I had a gyn visit. I had just turned 50 and knew I had to go as my body was changing. Well as they say the rest is history. I'm 1 1/2 years out of dx and doing well. Thankfully mine was caught early..stage 1C.

I had my paps but was neglecting...
my mammos. I would leave my docs with the paperwork but never made the appt. It was 8 years without a mammo. Very foolish. Mine was found early in spite of my negligence. I was lucky. Everyone in my family has learned the lesson and they say they go annually.

    I think everyone here needs
I think everyone here needs to go every year at least. I know the new guidelines is pap every two years if you are HPV negative. But we all know what guidelines are about LOL
