neuropathy

Hi all,

I tend to do lots of research on line and get noticication of all new journal releases and clinical trials in regards to lymphoma. There is a pediatric phase 11 trial on the use of Glutamine for peripheral neuropathy. Actually there are a number of children receiving Vincristine who are taking Glutamine with their pediatric oncologists approval even though the trial is still on going and they are not a part of the trial. Parents say it reduces the neuropathy when it's taken when chemo is given. If it works for kids it should work for us big folks don't you think? If your experiencing neuropathy perhaps it's worth talking with you onc about it. I do not have the trial number but if you go to NCI clinical trials the full name is "Phase II Randomized Pilot Study of Glutamine for Vincristine-Induced Neuropathy in Pediatric Patients With Lymphoma, Leukemia, or Solid Tumors"

Hope this can help someone. If I ever have to take vincristine again I certainly would try it.

Blessings and have a beautiful day.
Leslie

    Thanks Leslie
One of my most troublesome side effects has been the neuropathy from the vincristine. I only have one infusion left, but I have printed your not and I will look it up before my visit with my onc this week.

    Thanks for the information.

Tom, lovely twins. They are a joy to look at! I look forward to my daughter to moving back to live with us temporarly but unfortunately she broke up with her boyfriend but she feels better. It is always a joy to be around children.
