Funny how "De-sensitised" we become to cancer

Thought I'd share my little experience with you to illustrate how we can become so used to having cancer that we ALWAYS assume everything that goes wrong in our bodies "MUST BE CANCER"

I had to go for a follow up cervival screen because my routine test came back with "changed cells" Well my first thought was.................. "Oh the cancer has spread" and the second one was............... don't need to go because I already have cancer"

I said to the nurse "Do I still need to attend because I already have Peritoneal Cancer which is very similar to Ovarian?". The nurse reassured me that my changes were very borderline and in no way connected.

After being examined the nurse suggested that my changes were indeed very borderline and (in her opinion) nothing to worry about and were probably a results of a virus that may or may not have been cause by the CHEMOTHERAPY having an effect on my white blood cells.

Still waiting for the offical results but a good example of how NOT EVERYTHING IS RELATED TO CANCER.

    Hi Tina,

Look at me in the week, another example of it! Not sure if you saw my post, but mum has a hernia, I could feel the lump in her tummy and immediately you think the worst!
It is difficult not to think christ, it has got to be to do with cancer, but as you and Carlene say it isn't always about cancer!

    Hernia?
I can feel something in my Mom's stomach too. It is a rather large lump, she keeps asking me what it is. I keep saying I don't know but I just assumed it was the tumor. I am hoping that is a hernia just like your mom has.
Mom goes for her 6th treatment on Monday and a CT scan on the 22nd. Please send positive vibes our way, a little prayer couldn't hurt either.
    Her name is Saundra.
    Thank you,
    Kelly
