profiles and spammers

After the recent problems with "spammers" or whatever they are, I find myself questioning anyone who has no profile info. There some posts that are suspcious to me as the poster has no real profile info and what she says dose not make sense. Anybody got any thoughts. It's such a bummer seeing this kinda stuff...love and hugs to everyone..alison Maybe I'm just grumpy!

    I mentioned this a while
    I mentioned this a while back in a post that I wondered about people that don't complete the profile information. There were several ladies that have been members for some time and just never completed this section. So, I guess I am saying that this missing information does not necessarily mean someone is not "real". The only other possibility is that you are just grumpy. I'm just kidding, those were your words, not mine. Have a great weekend!!

    Guilty as charged .. I have very little if any profile
    information .. I had good intentions of going back in and fixing this .. okay, so that was 7 months ago ..

    I will try again .. next week when I have some time, and a quite home to remedy this.

    ok .. now I noticed that my bug person/next to my name is gone .. Wow, what does this mean ?? Can I be added as a friend ? Am I not friendly ... gosh darn ;-)

    I don't know if I have anything on mine or not. lol I don't think it means anything whether they do or not. If you notice, the spammers are always NEW members, never seen one that didn't join on the exact day that the spamming started. And, some might not want to put a lot of info on their profile because anyone can look it up and see what they write and some might not want that. This is the internet and this site is open to anyone and everyone. Just my thought...

    I'm One of "Those"
    I'm one of those members that has very little in my profile. I'm not an "out there" kind of gal for one, secondly, I'm not a big fan of putting a lot of personal info on any site, plus, I'm techo challenged and am lucky if I can even sign into this site! I don't think that if you don't have much in a profile, you are a spammer. So thanks Sue, for defending us quiet ones! Actually, it took a lot of courage for me to even sign on and post a year after my dx.

    it was a bit annoying when the spam posts were happening. I actually didn't post for a couple of days waiting for it to go away. I don't know if some people are more private about what they put in a profile. I haven't gone back to edit any of my information but I'm still in treatment.

    I agree Sally, I get nervous
    I agree Sally, I get nervous putting a lot of info on the internet. I don't even want pictures of me on there. I had one once and then decided to take it off.
    I guess I'm from the generation that is still afraid of giving too much information.
    I get mad at my adult children with the whole Facebook thing too, so many pictures and personal stuff that it scares me.
    I am real though :)

    I don't make a judgment just because the profile isn't filled out. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. The spammers usually have lots of links to click on. None of us know if another member is real survivor or not but I just look at it that if they are faking than they need help too. What does it hurt to give a little advice or comfort. A definite red flag is asking for money. This is why we don't post personal info. I do post pictures but I'm not rich or famous so I'm lost in the crowd of humanity.

    I never even look at the profiles, and, mine could be blank too. Guess I should check. I get to know other sisters on the site, not by their profile. Spammers are always brand new people. They aren't someone who has been around for weeks, months or years. They just join the day that they do their stupid spamming. So, maybe you are just not in a good mood? Hoping you feel better and have a great weekend. And, if I want to know more about someone, I just private message them or email them.

    I just figured out how to do it a couple weeks ago,I don't have a bug beside my name either but i don't worry about that I consider myself still new to the site and actually read about the membership it ask you not you use your on name.I would hope and pray that no one would want to click on a cancer web site just to be mean but i do know their are some sick in the head people in this world.

    I don't like giving info. heck it took me a while to post real name at the end of my posts.
    I'm lazy when it comes to stuff like that. Time is limited.
    I pay no attention to profiles. I go by what the person posts, not their profile.

    often can help to understand opinion or person's advice. Cancer experience could be very different and unique and definitely affects point of view.

    Just click on their avatar
    Just click on their avatar and it takes you to their profile page. If they don't have an avatar click on their user name.

    I don't know what spammers are but I know I'm not listing a lot of personal info for the whole wide web to see.A person could list a lot of info and none of it true.

    I don't know if I ever put
    I don't know if I ever put anything on my profile page or not and I don't care. LOL I prefer not to have all of my info on a site that is open to everyone on the world wide web anyway. Spammers join the day they do their stupid spamming, by the way.
