Hi All,

GOOD News - After being back at work for 5 months I finally built up some vacation so I took a long weekend and went fishing at my favorite lake. Caught a bunch of crappie, largemouth and whites. Awesome weather, beautiful scenery, good friends!
BETTER News - After 7 months I was de-PEG'd today. YeHaa!!
BEST News - Six months post-treatment check-up yesterday. My lead doc and surgeon has been reluctant to say anything too positive. He finally said - NED. And he thought I was doing "awesome" (his words). He added he usually doesn't commit this early but thought I was past the worst of it and that the chances of a re-occurance was less than 1 in 20. Made my day!!!

I've been on this site for 6 months now and just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the great advice, thoughtful comments and support I've received.

You guys are the best!!!!

Positive thoughts to everyone!

Greg

Greg,
Wow - great news, building on good news. Fabu. Icing on the cake was the less than 5 percent chance of recurrance. Very, very cool. Hope you're treating your pals to a fish fry to celebrate.

Greg, sounds like you have had quite the day. Good to hear all of the news is good concerning your longer term outcomes.I am no where near where you are, but when I am I feel like this journey will have changed me and with that, different attitudes towards living my life and "do not sweat the small stuff" will be very apparent.

allot of my friends are trying to guess what I will do first once I am healthy enough to go out for a night on the town. Most have me showing up to Morton's for my favorite meal(Bone in Rib Eye) and Grey Goose on the rocks.

I must be honest at this point, the thought of eating that and or drinking any booze now, makes me dry heave. Not so much that a giant broiled steak may be high in Carcinogens and that the Alchohol is a no no.

It flat out does not sound good.

Greg, at this point, would your favorite meal and or cocktail taste good to you?

Congreats on your special occasion, you made it through the Gauntlet!!

Mike

Thanks Dude.

Taste is not a problem for me. I estimate I have 85-90% of taste back, but only about 20-25% saliva. The only thing I can't taste is sweet, but I've never had a sweet tooth, so that doesn't bother me. I always loved spicey foods though and that is one area I can't do anymore. Just a little spicey and I have to spit it out.

It doesn't sound fancy but a good bar cheesburger is what I crave. If I could fit it in my mouth and chew it, I'd probably give it a go but soft bread and I don't get along anymore. For going with the burger it would have to be a nice cold beer (Stella Artois). I've sipped on one just to see if it would hurt going down - no pain. But I'm abstaining until I'm a year out. Was hoping it hurt going down to make it easier to give up. Cocktail of choice would be a Manhatten on the rocks (Makers Mark). Haven't tasted any bourbon (my fav) and probably won't. Will miss that along with my cigars.

Hang in there bro' you're right behind me

WOW - at six months this is wonderful. I guess the only thing that could make it better is if you hit the lottery and retired so you could go fishing more often. But as Sweet said, e-mail John pictures of your fish ;-)

So happy for you, keep up the good work!!!

Greg,
I literally sit with tears of relief and joy. You have always been just ahead of Mark, and as he approaches his first post PET...my emotions are very much on the surface. I am so thrilled to hear of your successes...from the great fishing to the 1/20. Make every day a great day.
Fondly,
Kim

Greg, Mate, am so glad to hear your good report all around. Really good result and good work on your part I'm sure. No more PEG as well so you can now play 'Rolly Polly'. Enjoy.

I have seen enough fishing tales so now it's my turn :>)

We own a house in Mazatlan Mexico and there is a lake (El Salto) just 45 minutes away. Last month, one day fishing results for one person: 70 Large Mouth bass - smallest 5lbs two over 14 lbs.

Next day we caught a 350 lb marlin.

Nuff said -

My wife and brother-in-law caught the fish. I was gaining weight through the use of local beer on the boat.

So we don't have to listen to Skiff cry I'm going out to buy a camera tonite. My wife won't let me use hers. I've only dropped 2 into lakes and rivers in the last year. Don't understand why she won't let me borrow hers???

Salto - on my to-do list. Denny, you better get pic's or Skiff won't believe you. LOL.

My last two trips are on my expressions pages,

OH, GREG, and a magazine shot for Salt Water Angler Magazine....LOL. I have a friend that writes articles for them and for his blog, "Fresh from the Salt",...check it out. The first issue shows a few grouper trips from a few months ago;

The background photo for his blog was on my boat this past Sunday flounder fishing the bridges in Tampa Bay.
