Great news. My CT Scan has no change since the last one. I am soooo happy. I was diagnosed last Oct. 6, 2009, T3N1M0. I had the esophagus removed Dec. 21,2009. Followed that by 4 rounds of Cistplatin and 5 FU, finished chemo in May. I have lost a lot of weight, but am now maintaing my weight. I did not lose all my hair, but it did get very thin. It is now growing back and seems to look the same color. My eyelashes came back thicker than before.(Good)

My biggest problem is learning to eat slowly and often. I don't like this business of eating 6 times a day. I try to eat a decent snack between main meals. Also, I can't drink anything while I am eating. I guess my tummy doesn't have room for liquid and solids at the same time. I sure miss having a big glass of iced tea with my meals. I do better with warm drinks, like coffee or hot chocolate. I have not had any dumping problems at all.

I have only had reflux a few times since my surgery. I sleep with two pillows under my mattress and a pillow on top. I tried the wedges but I slid down during the night so mostly I ended up flat at the end of the bed.

I do have chemo induced neuropathy in my fingers and feet. I take Vit B6 for it, but it is not helping.

The worst thing for me during this past year was the mouth sores during chemo. Nothing I did helped, they would get better a few days before chemo would start again, then the cycle would repeat again.

I feel really great. Praise God and all the Saints I have called upon and thank you to all the people that have prayed for me during the worst year of my life. Life is good.

    Great News!!!!!
    Cathy,

Great news on your scan!!!!! Since it has been one year since your diagnosis I will bet you spent some time thinking about how much your life has changed over the last year. I am sure there were some times when you doubted you would be here one year later. I am so happy things have worked out in a positive way.

Be sure to take some time this week to celebrate your positive news!!!!

    Best Regards,

    Congratulations!!
    Hi Cathy,
We were operated on the same month. So glad you got a clear scan, what a great joy to share with all of us. Hope your eating gets better. I had chemo after surgery but not as much as you did so you sound like you are progressing very well. I have found that the more months pass, the easier the eating gets and you can eat a little more than when you started out. I was told right off the bat not to drink with my meals, you need all the room for high nutrition food. Good luck to you and many hopes that this will keep on happening, all clear scans. Prayers for you and everyone here.
