CT Tomorrow

Ok, Nervous Nellie here.

After Friday evenings appointment and Muscle Testing I can't help it. My mind won't stop the downhill slide. Just the mention of possible Liver and Gall Bladder problems has my mind racing. Since I am still having some pain, I went to my family doc today. He's sending me for a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis tomorrow morning.

I hate being a hypochondriac! LOL

Just venting.

    Whoa Nellie...(ha)!
Hey Beth...try not to worry too much...I know, easier said than done, but lets think positive that the scan will show that nothing is there. The "what if" thinking will make us crazy if we go with it. Take half of a Xanax when you feel yourself getting anxious and nervous. I only take mine right before bed, but my PCP told me I could up the dose a little when I'm having rough days while taking the pred, or just feeling xtra anxious in general. Ask your doctor first though..just sharing what works for me. Be sure to let us know when you get the scan results back. Prayers and positive thoughts for you...Love, Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Sue,
You are grade 2,right? Is that a mixture of 2 types of lymphoma cells? I know I am a 1 which is small cell only. Its always been a little confusing to me with the grading. John

    Pathology micro DX
    HI John,
My biopsy was taken from the left inguinal node measuring 3.5 x 3 x 2.5 cm.
    The micro report says:
The lymph node sections demonstrate architectural enfacement by a follicular/nodular infiltrate of atypical lymphoid cells. These cells exhibit a size spectrum from small to intermediate to large with the intermediate sized cells predominating. They have irregular nuclei and discernable nucleoli. Between 10 and 15 centroblasts are present per HPF. This infiltrate shows extranodal extension, as well as vascular involvement. Neither a diffuse or large cell component are identified. Follicular Lymphoma, Grade 2 (of 3) Predominately Follicular Involving Left Inguinal Lymph Node.
    Immunocytochemical stains as follows:
    CD5...Negative
    CD10...Positive
    CD20...Positive
    CD79a..Weakly Positive
    CD23...Variably, Positive
    Cyclin D1...Negative
    CD43..Probably Negative
    BCL2...Positive
    BCL6...Positive
    Ki67....Positive (40% cells positive)

As it was explained to me, my Grade 2 was on the low side. Maybe because my cells are small and large, but predominately intermediate is why I'm grade 2...don't know for sure. Maybe someone else in the group knows what all of these stain counts mean. Probably way more information than what you asked about...ha!...Sue

    GRADES
    Hi John,
I did a little research on the Grading process. The reason I am Grade 2 is because my centroblasts falls in the 10-15 range...(more intermediate and large cell were found) If you look at your pathology report from your biopsy it will probably say what number range your centroblasts are. Here is how it's broken down:

Grade 1: 0-5 centroblasts per high power field
Grade 2: 6-15 centroblasts per high power field
Grade 3: 15> centroblasts per high power field

What I understand is the centroblasts designates how many small, intermediate and large cells are found in a high power field. You said you were small cell, so your numbers were more than likely in the 0-5 range which puts you at a Grade 1. Grade 1 and 2 are considered indolent/slow growth non aggressive. Grade 3 is considered aggressive. The information gets a little harder to understand when you start reading about Grade 3, so I stopped reading since you are Grade 1 and I am Grade 2. I didn't want to go into "Bing" overload the night before chemo...ha!ha! Hope this info helps. Sue

    Grades
    Hey Sue,

Know your off getting chemo but so wanted to thank you for the information you gave John on lymphoma gradings. For all I know I knew nothing about how lymphomas are graded. Can you please give me the website you used to get this information? My lymphoma is considered aggressive but is not graded. Every time I asked what grade I was told LPD is not graded, very frustrating for me. On one path rpt it said few lg cells, but thats the most information I got on cells. Just last wk I asked onc specialist if I maybe had diffused, he looked through path and said no, I was considered pure LPD, whatever that means. Anyway, thanks again on the info.

Leslie, you have been on this discussion board for a long time. Do you know anything about catwink? I really want to know how she is. Also Natalie, the very pretty young blonde pictured with her little daughter. She was having a BMT in June I think. Thanks Take care

    The Gang
    Joanie,
It bothers me to when part of the gang as I call them or group drops out. It makes me wonder what happened. Are they ok or just tired of writing or anything else that we may think. I really feel we are a tight knit group here. It is hard on us ehen someone does not respond. I know of a few more than stopped responding as well. Maybe they are just taking a break from all the hustle and bustle. Maybe someone has an e-mail for them,Idon't know, but would like to hear from them myself. I think I remember catwink was doing pretty good . She was on when I first found the site. I used to respond to her and her to me for a while. John

    Today
Thanks Joanie. Test was this morning, so hopefully will get good results in a few days.

Has anyone sent an email message to catwink and natalie?

I am hoping for just a simple enzyme issue that can be resolved quickly. It never hurts to take a good luck at good eating habits and such. I've really been slacking on eating healthy lately. Maybe it's just my body saying "Wake up slacker" pay attention to me :)
