fluff...and circumstance
A few weeks back I was driving a local stretch of freeway, carpooling my daughter and one of her friends to a school event when from the back seat I hear, "MOM, that's you on that billboard!" Sure enough, pictures that were taken of me now adorn a few local roads, a mall, an invitation, a hospital publication, and buses. I was asked to participate in a promotion for my local cancer center and I obliged.
Last Monday, I went to a fitting at my local Macy's for a survivors fashion show to be hosted later this month by the same cancer center. I just want an old crotchety retired firefighter, instead of one of the new young guys, that way I can look tall and svelte. That, and I do not wish to participate in objectifying firefighters, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
On Thursday, my surgeon looked everything over and was pleased. He gave me my prescription for my January mammogram and told me not to hesitate if I felt compelled to see him before January.
Then today, I got my 'new' girl! After more than an hour of trying on various brassieres and forms, draping silk and two sets of discerning eyes checking for symmetry, we were on our way. She looks, beneath clothing, as natural as the original. I even wore her out to dinner.
This all may seem insignificant and not all that fascinating, but for one 15 year old fatherless child, it means the world to see her mom as a survivor.
So, go ahead and flag me.

Congrats on your new girl!
Moopy (who is getting ready for work this morning or she would tell you this herself) advises that you establish strict rules for your new girl. The most important is to make sure she spends the night in the same place, every night, because this will make for a lot less confusion in the morning. Poor Moopy... she knows where her clothes are in the morning, and she knows where her makeup is, and she knows where her shoes are, but the poor little kitten is always asking "where's my foob!"
I'd say "enjoy your new foob," but it's obvious you already are... here's wishing you decades and decades of happy foobitude!

If I worked in airport security I would insist my opening it up for inspection. Then again, if I were a motorcycle officer, I would have shot me when I pulled me over about a month ago rather than let me go with a warning. Guess it's a good thing I'm not in charge of the universe.

She has already warned me that a girl can't have enough foobs, and it makes sense that she would want to bring her whole collection with her when we travel. "This family reunion sounds a little boring... maybe I should wear my iPod foob."
Your post really did give me a visual of Moopy opening up a case full of foobs and anguishing over which one to wear. I'm just relieved I somehow managed *not* to snarf my coffee through my nose when it happened!0 -

Yay to the new girl. And she and you deserved a dinner out. It is important for us to feel good about ourselves and I know that you take pride in yourself with or without the girl but for you child to see her mom as a survivor that is truly priceless. And the excitement of seeing her on billboards and other places and a model in a fashion show will, no doubt, fell her with pride. I think in your child's place, I would feel like if they are using my mom she must be doing well. I was LOL at the old retired firefighter. We have a friend who would fit the bill. He is a retired firefighter, was short and muscular, but now is short and portly. He would certainly make you look tall and svelte. Have fun at the fashion and be a diva. This is a great post to read.

Just wait until they start making them in designer prints and colors. There will be foobs all over the place. Paisley, stripes, checks, hot pink, florals, the mind boggles, doesn't it? Foobs for all occasions. We could even have a theme song. Do you know the song "Food Glorious Food" from the musical Oliver. Well, now it will be Foobs, Glorius, Foobs, Foobs I gotta have some. I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I am truly just trying to inject some humor here. My sister has several foobs. They actually do make lymphedema sleeves and gauntlets that have designs. She has a nice paisley one. It was more expensive but she has to wear them all the time and it looks nice when she is wearing a dressy black dress.
I can just picture Moopy looking all over for her foob or standing in front of a trunkload saying which shall I wear, which shall I wear?

I am foobless at the moment for a couple of meaningless reasons...i kept dropping the one they brought into the dressing room, secondly don't have the up front cash to get one until reimbursed, and third yall know I am total disneyoid...the rides come with warnings about fake legs and arms cannot be worn on the rides...and I don't want to be the one who knocks someone out behind me on big thunder mountain by the runaway foob...0 -

Disney shuts down Big Thunder to investigate an accident in which a guest was hit with, what can only be described, as a heavy, medium sized, foam saucerlike object. Witnesses report that a woman was seen with her blouse open and bra undone running away from the scene. Anyone with information, please contact 555-FOOB.
This made me think of a friend of mine from grade school days. We were 12 or so and had yet to develop as fully as our friends were (I never did, sob). We consider various methods of padding our training bras (and just what were they training for cause mine failed). We experimented with scarves, socks, and all manner of things. Then my girl friend decided to use spoolies. Now you have to be a certain to remember spoolies. They were a small conical shaped hair curler made out of plastic. When inserted in a training bra on small girls and we were tiny, do look sort of booblike. Not really, they made our breast look like we had one inch Madonna boobs. So we kept experimenting, never in public thank god. Nature eventually gave my friend a nice set of 36 Ds but I alas was to never progress beyond a not quite full 34 A. Well, now that I am greatly overweight my bra is bigger but not so much in the cup size. I quess my unfairness in the boob department was life long. LOL

We are human and subject to error at times. Such is life. It's has RE mentioned on one of the blogs, the CSN Family got a little headstrong. I think we are all big enough to move on.

at that image! OMG, the store where I bought my new "girls" sells beautiful shapely colorful bra carrying cases that would definitely fit the image. Will invest in a case before I fly.

I just love it! Congrats on the publicity. I would love to see a pic of it too! I'm sure your daughter is very proud of her survivor mom. Glad the "new girl" is working for you too! I have chemo tomorrow and will wear my "leisure bra w/foam forms" so the onco nurse can reach my port easier. I wear "the girls" in mast bras when going other places. We do have to try to look our best, eh! And, I spent 2+ hours trying on different bras til the look was good. lol My "girls" each have their very own shaped boxes and that's where they sit when not in use. The store where I bought them has traveling cases that are shaped and colorful like a fancy bra! I was advised to wear them while flying because the leisure forms have weights in them that would set off the radar at airport check-ins. lol

living large and alive via a billboard -- how absolutely awesome. Please see if you can take a snap shot of you - in living color and post .. Otherwise, what a significant and powerful message sent to YOUR LOVING daughter.
By the way, I found about 100 frizbee's at Big Lots, and I'll passing them out for Halloween.
