Pain due to fungal infection

Hi Everyone,

Just an update on my treatment. Just finished 3rd round of chemo with minimal side effects. Tumor shrunk by 30% last CT scan. New problem: no difficulty swallowing but pain at site of tumor when I eat or sometimes drink. Had an endoscopy on Tuesday, doctor feels that a fungal infection is to blame. Put me on medication for 14 days, same med as a yeast infection.

Has anyone out there dealt with the same problem? Doctor says that this infection can be the result of chemotherapy.

Thanks for your help.

Paul

My husband was just treated for this yeast infection in his mouth from the chemo. He
was given nystatin and also started the magic mouth rinse. He said his mouth still hurts
and the doctor said the infection is gone. I guess it is a normal side effect of the
chemo. I hope you are feeling better soon. Congratulations on the tumor shrinking 30%!
