I am so happy that today was my last chemo infusion. Hoooorrayyyy!!!! I have completed 4 x AC and 12x Taxol/Herceptin. I still have to go every 3 wks for Herceptin to complete a year. Has anyone experience any side effects with just the herceptin alone? I have been doing fine with the Taxol/Herceptin combo so far.

Thank you all for your great advice and helpful words of kindness during this difficult time. Wish me luck on my surgery (lumpectomy) that I am due for in about a month. I sure do need the rest : )

YAHOO! I am so happy for you Chris that you are done with chemo now! You have earned the title of Chemo Grad! This is a huge milestone and a huge accomplishment!

I don't take herceptin, so, I can't offer any advice to you, but, others that are taking it will.

Sending you lots of luck for you lumpectomy and praying for a speedy recovery for you!

    Woo Hoo!!!!! No More Chemo!!!!!
I finished my chemo on August 25, 2010. Had my first Herceptin treatment alone on September 15, 2010. No problems or side effects at all. Piece of cake. The main side effect I had from the chemo was the steroid crash 3 days after my treatment. Didn't have that with the Herceptin alone. Have my second only Herceptin treatment tomorrow. Take care. Hugs, Jean

Can't help with the herceptin question, but congratulations on finishing chemo, and hopefully the surgery will be a piece of cake.

    chemo first
The only side effect I can relate directly to Herceptin is having very dry nasal passages. They do get really sore and sometimes cause nose bleeds. Otherwise, I think Herecptin is fairly easily tolerated as my other side effects seem to be attributed to either Taxol, Zometa, or Taxotere.

Since you had chemo prior to surgery, I assume this was an effort to shrink the tumor(s). Did that work well for you? Best wishes.

    Wonderful!

I'm so happy for you. I'm sure the surgery will be a piece of cake compared to the chemo. Hang in there. You're going to be fine. You are a warrior.

Yes Marsha..the chemo first was to shrink the tumor for breast conservation surgery. So far so good the tumor has shrunk significantly and the lumpectomy seems possible now. I have my MRI on Monday to see how much it has shrunk. WE cannot even feel the tumor anyone as I originally found it!!

    Truly time to celebrate!

My onc said one drink is ok between treatments. And I think waiting a couple of weeks is wise since those cocktails are so hard on the liver. I say enjoy the girls night out with or without a drink!
