Hi everyone, since all of you have been so helpful in the past I was wondering if any of you knew about partial gastrectomy and how that changes the persons eating habits and diet. My husband is having surgery on the 21st to remove cancer from the stomach. Hopefully it hasn't spread and it won't be a full gastrectomy. Sorry if I'm spelling it wrong. I know that a partial removes part of the stomach and now the capacity of the stomach is much smaller. I know he will have to eat differently as in many small, tiny meals all day instead of your standard three. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I'm trying to prepare in advance. Thanks! "C"

I lost part of my colon, not
I lost part of my colon, not my stomach. However, I had dietary restrictions initially, which were reviewed while I was in the hospital. My advice is to make sure you are present for a meeting with the nutritionist/dietary while in the hospital. Ask all of your questions then.

Wishing you and your husband well.

    Thank you
Thank you Alice. I hadn't thought of that. Of course he will be advised and I will be at the hospital daily before and after work so, I will let them know beforehand that I do wish to speak with the nutritionist/dietician person. Thanks again!
