Good-Bye my Port - a Poem by Vicki Sam

As most of you know by now, I've had a love/hate relationship with my port .. I just wanted to share a few departing words, as I go in tomorrow afternoon to have my good friend - "Victor" removed from my upper inner right arm. Yes, he is a man, as only a man could cause so much pain along with life support, all at the same time.


Good bye my Port:

I've waited days and weeks to rid myself of you, my dear Port,
never feeling close to you .. you old snort

Infections caused by continued rubbing kept my patiece short,
with you gone, I can live my life without your support ..

Good day, good riddens you pain in my heart
Good bye -- you little 'fart'.

Foot loose, and port free by 2:00 p.m. 8/31 ..

    so happy for you. Hoping the removal is quick & painless :-) Instead of removal mine will be accessed as I get my 2nd chemo tomorrow.

    Congratulations on getting that darned port taken out of your body. It must feel grand to know that you are done with infusions and are now on the other end of it all! What a year it has been for you.

    You did it, Vicki! It was a HUGE undertaking and You did it! Hooray for You!

    No matter how useful, you don't need its support.
    Your port was a fair-weather friend at best
    Pain and infections~ put them to rest!!
    A lady so beautiful, so full of delight
    Does not need a port to finish the fight!
    Your spirit and generous nature and smile
    Will bring you great happiness, through all of lifes miles!

    Thank you again for being at Saturday's special laugh and love filled luncheon~I am so honored to know you in person...you are truly a blessing.

    Oh Vicki what a wonderful poem, you brought a smile to my face as you made your feeling quite clear! It is time for Victor to hit the skids and free you of all his annoyance.

    I also wanted to tell you what a joy it was to meet you, you are most certainly a joy. Your kindness to my husband with the note you sent him was both touching and kind, thank you!

    As I am gathering last minute items, washing a load
    of cloths etc .. no knowing how long I will be without the use of my right arm ... I am here at 'our' site that is such a large part of my life, and I sit her sipping coffee - smiling at the the LOVE, SUPPORT, SISTERHOOD, provided by such strong, independent and fiece WARRIORS.

    Thank you all for being a part of my LIFE .. as I like to say to my friends and family,

    And this revelation did not come to light until now????? I'm telling you, it is the fault of long, rectangular shaped dining tables! With round tables, you would have known this on Saturday, I'm convinced!
