    Vinny,
Make sure you keep up posted about what is going on. I was just wondering if when you had your blood work, is the sugar thing a normal thing? I know when I get mine done it is not, but I still get a reading on the blood readout. Mine has been that high as well, but when I mention it to the Onc. nurse she said it is not even looked at because if I drank anything with sugar or ate anything that morning it would be high. She said if they were checking blood sugar I would be instructed to not eat anything for 12 hours prior. John

    Not to worry!
It is routine to check the blood sugar before a PET scan. If it is to high they can not do it because there's already too much sugar and they will be giving more in the IV and the results will not be accurate. I think the cut off is 160-170. It does not mean you are diabetic. One culprit is the prednisone..it makes everyone's blood sugar absolutely soar. The other culprit is stress the greater the stress the higher the blood sugar. Your blood sugar levels will return to normal after treatment and 131 is just very slightly elevated. Not to worry there. I had them up there too and all was fine. At any rate, good luck this week and keep us posted.

Hey John, I did fast before the test, in looking more into it, this should not be a major issue, if it had been 200, then I think it would be cause for concern. Soon as I find anything out I will post. It's so nice to have the support of everyone in the same battle that we are fighting........... Vinny

    Vinny,
Yea, when I got my blood work back and that high blood sugar was on there or at least I thought it was high, I did what I tell people not to do. I jumped right on the computer and started looking up stuff. I went in the next day for my nuelasta shot and bought it up to the the onc nurse. She said 136 is not high for a person that has not fasted. She said now if if it was 400 and not fasted we would have a problem. John

I have been told I have a quick wit all my life, but I have noticed the chemo brain really puts a damper on it at times. Sometimes I am right in the middle of a sentence and forget what I am saying. I was telling someone about that and they said don't feel bad, I have been looking in my pocketbook for something and forgot what I was looking for and I am not even on chemo. This journey is something sometimes. I was telling Aaron on the site that we all are like ducks on a pond,Cool and calm on the top and paddling like hell underneath!!!
