Does anyone have those symptoms after chemo?

    possible lymphedema
    About 6 months after her surgery, which was maybe two months after chemo, my mother developed swelling and pain in her left leg, with some in her right leg, too. It is called lower limb lymphedema, and it's a side-effect of lymph node removal during surgery; breast cancer patients sometimes get it in an arm. My mother's is reasonably well managed with a compression stocking, but she needed special physical therapy to get it under control.

    This is just one possibility, but it's worth considering. After nearly a year of helping Mom manage her lymphedma, we consider it a problem when we see yellowish blotches/patches that feel slightly hard to the touch, but this doesn't happen much anymore. If you can feel definite heat in a swollen area, you may have an infection and need to see a doctor ASAP.

    Recently Sanam's mother was having similar problems, so she may have more ideas...

    Yes!!
    Many days I felt like I couldn't walk the pain was so bad - i literally felt pain in my bones! ...... now it is more of a bad memory. I have been off chemo for 2 1/2 years and only recently did the pain stop. Right after chemo it was all the time... then less... and less. I hope that encourages you that yes it is painful... but it doesn't last forever :)

    Pain and Numbness
    I had severe pain in my legs and feet after my first and second chemo treatments. In fact my husband had to help me walk to the bathroom. The numbness started in the bottom of my feet and eventually went up to my ankles (that was during my whole chemo experience). Soaking my feet in warm water helped. I eventually learned how to walk a little slower so that I wouldn't trip on a step or curb. I hope I have not scared you any, but it does go away - I am 8 months post chemo and no pain in my legs and a little numbness on the bottom of my toes. Hang in there!

    My Mom had a problem with painfull and swollen ankle and foot 10 days ago.
    I was so afraid and googled the situation and there were 2 possibilities.DVT and cellulities.both are having similar symptoms such as pain ,heat and rednese and also both are severe conditions that you should get medical help.I n my mother case it was cellulities which is happenining during chemo due to compromised immune system.she took some antibiotic and Noproxen and it took around a week .She is feeling much better and the edema is not obvious any more.Tommorrow she will go to hospital for chemo and I will also talk to her doctor.

    My deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) started with pain, swelling, redness, and fever in my thigh. My home health nurse got the doctor on it rapidly which is important. You should report this to your doctor. Saundra
