For those of you who might remember me I say 'hi'. For those of you I have not yet met greetings from San Antonio TX. I was dxed in 7 2008 with invasive ductal carcinoma. I went through six rounds of chemo and a left side mastectomy with 16 lymph nodes removed, one of those positive. I just found out that I now have stage four metastisized into the lungs, possible rib on the right side and there was something about a trachea or near the trachea. My surgeon who I saw yesterday (I have seen him twice a year since all this started and the oncologist dr on the opposite six months, I am blessed to have excellent care!) says stage four breast cancer, no surgery can be done (I guess you can't remove both lungs) he says chemo and rads if it is the right rib involved. He ordered a PET scan and I go on Wednesday (tomorrow if I can get in on a cancellation) and I see the oncologist dr on Thursday to get the results and figure out what to do next. I am looking for other stage four survivors to connect with since I am totally out of my league now with this new news. I'm not even sure what the protocol is for stage four and am looking for any info. One another note, my brand new husband of six months (we got married in Feb) is quite upset as well. he lost his first wife to cancer in 2006 so now I am also dealing with his reactions and needs as well. Support and prayers are totally welcome! Thanks all! MJ

Hello MJ, yes of course I remember you and I am so extremely sorry this has come your way. I will most assuredly be keeping you and your husband in my prayers. I was a stage 4 in 99, it was in my sentinel node and chest wall, I had 18 rounds or intense chemo and ten more weeks (in addition to the 6 weeks I had had previously) of rads. I remained in remission till 97 when a new bc showed up in the other breast so I had it removed, 4 more rounds of chemo and have been in remission since. Please let us know how the PET comes out,
a million cyber hugs coming your way!

    stage four
Let me start by saying that I'm so sorry to hear that you are having to go through with this, but I'm glad to see that you are accepting prayers, because my family and I will defintely being praying for you and your family. My wife is stage 4 with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and has been fighting since October of 2008. She has undergone TAC chemo, radiation, and bilateral masectomy. The cancer metastisized in her spine in her T9 and her lung and her chest wall, which was discovered after my wife pushed for post surgery chemo, and oncologist was resistent. My wife was treated with cyberknife and it looked to have worked on her spine, to only have it return in her lower L1-3 and now it is in her spleen. After 3 failed lines of treatment to include a PARP trial, she now has some hope. We switched to a different oncologist, a breast cancer specialist, and after 1 1/2 rounds of Ixempra with Carbo platins, Avastin and Zometa, the tumor marker has gone down from 900 to 800 and she had to have a blood transfusion for the anemia. So far my wife's energy level has increased, thanks to the transfusion, and the pain medication (Fetnal patch) have helped. We are always praying and my wife is relentlessly looking into other clinical trials and alternative forms of treatment. If you have any other questions, my wife and I will try and answer them. The most important thing is to not give up and have FAITH. Good luck and look forward to hearing from you.

    HI, MJ!
Just down the road from you, closer to Houston. Sorry that we meet this way instead of in some neat Texas roadhouse, but hey--- This works! Like ELM says, I hope you find Re's post reassuring. You have wonderful doctors in SA, and here's to hoping that all your questions are answered, and fears are put to rest. Hugs to you and your hubby. Prayers are certainly on the way.

    Sorry :(
Oh MJ, I am so very sorry about the recurrence. I hate reading about these. It just isn't right or fair at all....

I do want to wish you good luck with your PET scan tomorrow and good luck with your oncologist's appointment. Be sure and keep us updated as to how you are and how your tests come out.

There are several women on here that have had cancer 2 and 3 times, RE, Jeanne D, Meena, bjmom1 and a few others. Please know that you can beat this and that all of your sisters in pink here will help you through it. That is why we are here!!!

Sending you prayers and lots of big hugs,

    Sue :)

i am stage 4. I was originally diagnosed on July 7, 2008. I have had a reoccurence with mets to my bones and liver. I am back on chemo, every week for 3 weeks, then a week off. So, i am bald again, sick and tired. I just started on June 10, 2010 for 6 month. Then, i am not sure what the next step is. I had a ct scan yesterday, and i will hopefully have the results this week. As far as I know, i do not have any lung mets. I do have some recent posts about my reoccurance on this board. I am so sorry that you have to go through this, you must have a good, positive attitude to get through this. I try to keep my life normal, although I am on disability right now. take care

How nice to see such a positive response from women going through this diagnosis also. It's nice to know there is a "battle plan" ahead of you! May God bless and keep you safe in His loving care.
