    Balanced Diet
My husband, who is a nurse, made me eat lots of protein during the entire process, to help with the healing. I also ate lots of fruit and vegetables. Basically, just a plain old healthy diet.

Also, a positive attitude is a definite plus in the healing column. When she starts to think about the surgery, remind her that the surgery got rid of the cancer, and she didn't really need anything they took out, anyway. Lots of people do just fine without a spleen. My cousin had hers removed when she was in her twenties for other reasons. (She's in her late 40's now).

When my staples were removed, I couldn't believe that my stomach would ever look anywhere near normal, however, five months post surgery, the scar has faded quite a bit and it's not as shocking at all.

    Post surgery my gyn-onc had
Post surgery my gyn-onc had me supplement my diet with Boost or Ensure in addition to regular good quality meals to aid the healing process. I also had my spleen removed in the debulking surgery. That was 2 1/2 years ago. Main problem with no spleen is platelets can get high as spleen filters out platelets. I took a baby ASA a day for month after surgery to limit any blood clots. Also, spleen is key factor in immune system so just need to be extra vigilant about infection risks. My husband was told at slightest hint of fever, off to the ER. Wishing her an uneventful recovery! J-ROBB PROTEIN POWDER
It's the best protein powder because it has absolutely no additives...Keep the faith..she will recover from the surgery..I promise...
