Going topless

So, a friend shared a wonderful photo collection of hair challenged chemo ladies which inspired me to go 'topless' the last few days. To the market, post office, Starbucks, my morning walks, and even just my mailbox. It's liberating not to worry about if the cap is slipping, my head feeling hot, etc. I have drawn more smiles than odd looks and have only noticed one overtly loud remark and that was by an elderly lady that I'm sure was simply surprised.

I have reached a place where I have decided my personal comfort means more than a few raised eyebrows of people I don't know that might choose to be offended.

    Go YOU
Bask in the liberation...it does feel good. I hate to say this but it's getting to be quite the norm seeing women either going "topless" or with the scarf. There's just THAT many people fighting this thing.

    Glad you found your place.

    Hugs & blessings,

    Sylvia

    I agree with Sylvia....
What was a bit unusual to see when I went thru my hairloss, is now accepted in society.

I, for one, dance for that acceptance, but also shake my fist at the beast for affecting so many lives!!!!

Go, enjoy the freedom....I only wore a wig for 10 minutes. I HATED it!!! Scarves, caps, and going naked were the way for me!!!

Good for you. Though I have enjoyed my various wigs, I have to admit, I cant wait till I feel comfortable enough to go naked in public.
    Happy for you.

    Good for YOU!!
It is a very liberating experience to go "topless" the first time. I think like others have said that it is more accepting nowadays and you may not even get a second look. But, if you do, just smile and know that you have done your part in slaying this beast. I'm sure you look lovely!!

    I couldn't do it but didn't
I couldn't do it but didn't have a choice because it was winter. I felt a draft even if my head wasn't covered in the house. Your comfort is more important than what people think.

We should all have this needlepointed on a pillow:
"My personal comfort means more than a few raised eyebrows of people I don't know who might choose to be offended."

    Amen, Sister.

I was really a wimp when it
I was really a wimp when it came to finally ditching the wig. This heat wave did it. I was so uncomfortable in the wig I put my comfort first. I'm slmost 4 mos. out of chemo and have hair all over my head but it's VERY short and dark with plenty of gray. I hadn't seem my true hair color in about 20 years. So, most comments I got were regarding my color, not the lack of length. I, at this point, have no intention of coloring it either. I'm 57, and have earned my gray, I have kids!!!! LOL

Good for you. I never wore wigs, just isn't my thing. I love being outside and not have to put up with my hair being in my face.

As soon as I had a itty
As soon as I had a itty bitty bit of hair, I threw the wigs and hats, I was D.O.N.E. it feels so good to be free of the fake hair. You are so correct, your comfort is what's most important, we go through so much and if it feels good to go topless, then you go girl!!

    Topless...
I think that's awesome! Way to go! Who cares what others think. If there is ever a time to go for the what's comfy, this is it! LOL. I had a wig and several scarfs. I wore the wig once and threw it in the drawer! It was just awful!! LOL. Sure, you get more looks, but it sure felt a heck of a lot better! :)

    Hi-
I can relate...I finished chemo May 7th and my hair is coming in nicely. I only wear my wig when I leave the house and take it off when I get to where I'm going unless its work or the store. But, at work I'll pull it back in a minute and rub the sweat off my head. I figure by September I'll have enough hair to go wigless and I will. I see so many women with really short hair just to have it...I've had it short but not this short. I can't wait for my hair to grow back shoulder length but next month I will start sporting the short look until it does.
