Wanted advice, thoughts about hosptials around the country to get a second opinion? I'm looking at MD Anderson and Sloan-Kettering. If any of you have experience, knowledge of places to go, please share.

I'm trying to gather information for my mom and we are going to sit down with my dad to discuss getting a second opinion. Things just dont' seem to be making sense with his symptoms and diagnoses and we are not happy with the doctors answers (or lack ther of!) and how they are NOT being very proactive with him.

Anyway, any advise or ideas would be welcomed. Dad has two more rounds of chemo to go before they revaluate his situation. We plan to be taking our business elsewhere!! Keep praying for him. He was unable to have his chemo yesterday due to low blood counts. So it's put off another week.

Blessings to All,
Sally

    Thank You William
Thank you for your response. I did go back and look at some of your other posts. I will defnately be putting down Dr. Luketich's name to give to my mom. We are waiting for my dad to finish with his chemo (2 more) before we approach him with our concerns and thoughts. I'd do it sooner, but my mom wants to wait. I just gently reminded her "waiting isn't exactly something we can do much of!" She knows time is of the essence, but feels strongly about waiting until the chemo is over. So, I have to respect that.

Anyway. I did have a couple of questions for you. You where diagnosed with Stage III, correct? Did you have node involvement? Any mets anywhere? Just curious.

    Thanks for all your info.!

    Blessings,
    Sally

Hi Sally and welcome to you
Hi Sally and welcome to you your mom and dad. I was a caregiver for my dad. He passed away in March from ec with mets to the liver. We live in Virginia, and we went to UVA, and were very pleased. Both of the hospitals you mention are very well known. They both have great reputations. I am sure you would be happy with either one. I totally agree with getting a second opinion. My dad did from UVA, and he lived 10 months more than the first opinion gave him! Best of luck, and know that we will be thinking of you and praying for you.
