Wierdest movie I've seen...but it speaks to my fears....

'Meet Joe Black'.

BIG names in it....Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie....

Brad plays death. But in an interesting way...coming to collect Anthony Hopkins, but taking a 'vacation' in a mortal body...

It spoke to me about my fears of reoccurance, and passing, walking with me everyday...

Twisted movie, but well acted, NOT a thriller...just gentle and very thought-provoking, at least for me...

And I watched it with subtitles...maybe better without...lol!

    Hi Kathy, I have seen that movie a while back. I agree I think many of us walk daily with the fear of relapse and having to fight the battle again. I once wrote an entire blog on this topic, it creeps up and sneaks up when I least expect it and it irritates me that I cannot rid myself of it. I see it as a kin to post traumatic stress syndrome. Example: here I am with my family camping having a great time when my husband and brother start talking about how much fun we are going to have when we retire and travel together as we have planned.....my secret thought is "I hope I'm still here to be a part of it" followed by "dang it stop thinking that way", it seems uncontrollable. Okay I have rambled on enough, we are only human.

    Funny you brought this up. I was just talking about how blue I was feeling lately and you're right. You just don't know if you'll be right back where you started after it's all done.

    I liked that movie. Dark but entertaining.

    Brad Pitt's hotness keeps you not so focused on how serious the subject really is!

    We have that movie on DVD and I didn't associate it with recurrance. But I know some background. It is a remake of a movie called Death Takes a Holiday. I saw it on tv a long time ago (1971 tv version). There is also a 1934 movie that I have not seen. Somewhere I read that the family (in the tv version) represented the Kennedys and death wanted to know why even with all the tragedies they suffered they still had such zeal for life.

    Marcia~ you and me and Old Movies! I thought, before I wrote that it was from a play and was also a 1934 movie called 'Death takes a Holiday" starring Fredric March, that I had better scroll down and see if you had posted! LOL

    I didn't realize...maybe without Brad Pitt's eye candy, it would have registered....

    I love that movie. Brad uuhhh. He had perfect hair in that movie. I saw it more as a love story between him and Susan.

    Love this movie. Cry at the ending each time. To me its very peaceful. Even "Death" felt a little guilty and didn't want to go. May watch it today. Yes, I even bought it when it came out. lol

    I have watched Meet Joe Black at least 2 times maybe 3. It is a thought provoking movie. And yes, the thoughts of recurrance are always trying to creep back in. Somedays when there is a new pain for no reason at all, all the warning lights start to blink. To a more pleasant subject. We watched a Thin Man movie last night. Now talk about the lighter side of times gone by. William Powell and Myrna Loye couldn't have played off each other better.
