Not really a topic thread- JUST news of another long-term survivor. Got my Port flushed today. A new Nurse did it, and we got to talking about her Brother-In-Law, who battled larynx/neck C before she was "in the family." Told her a little about our ACS site, and that I just might post:

According to this Nurse, her BIL was in his late-40s around 15 years ago when C hit him. Got treated at the U of Iowa- first with a radical neck surgery, which is still in evidence, followed by radiation. THAT'S 15 YEARS AGO, folks. Talks with a raspy voice, but is doing great. Says that he hasn't had any return bouts with the C in the neck, or anywhere else.

Oh yeah

Just look at Jack Klugman, he had larynx cancer in the early 80's, they did a partial laryngectomy, he is now 95 and got married last year.

Here is another one! an 83 year old gentleman my brother introduced me to shortly after my diagnosis. He was diagnosed with oral c @ the floor of his mouth in 1978.He underwent a neck dissection 31 years ago and is still going strong. His only complaint is he has outlived most of his family. This man is an inspiration to me ,He is also one tough old sob.
