My wife's CA-125 has risen from 17 to 400 in last two months
this is first recurrence.

She was treated 6 rounds of Carbo/Taxol and was having her CA-125 as 17.

She has her both Overies, FT and UTS removed.

Now doctors are thinking of Avastin and Taxotere..... ? HOw is this drug ? will it work ? Any experience ?

I am on exactly the same
I am on exactly the same drugs now. I have had 2 infusions so far and will get #3 on Tuesday. Since I have platinum-resistance cancer I was really terrified to get my last CA125 since it has been going up even though I was being treated at the time. But with these new drugs my CA125 has dropped from 77 to 43. I was very happy and I hope it keeps working.

The current research shows very good results with Avastin but it is expensive. There are also a few side effects with these drugs like bloody noses, sore tongue, and it makes me feel tired because my red blood counts drops but it's pretty tolerable. You have to watch kidney function too.

I wish your wife lots of luck.

    Avaston and Taxol
I'm back on those drugs from a recurrence. They are working beutifully. They seem to be the best drugs for me. I take them once for three weeks and then a week off and then back for the next three weeks, and so on. My CA=125 has gone down as low as 27 and right now is 31, which is at the top of normal for the test they do.

I find the main side effects are bloody nose and fatigue, but no nausea, which pleases me to no end. I h9pe this works out for your wife.

    Some insurances will cover
Some insurances will cover it. I am very fortunate mine does. I think it's a travesty that we are at the mercy of insurance companies who have no idea what's it's like to be down here in the trenches. I think there is something really wrong with this picture.

I hope your company covers it, uju99.
