Had Colonoscopy Today

Happy first day of summer. Today has been a Blessed day. Colonoscopy was done and Dr. said that everything looked really good. They found no polyps so therefore, no need for biopsy of anything. Colon looks healthy and wants to see me in six months just for follow up.

By the way, the medicine they gave me to put me in twilight didn't work again. I was awake for the complete procedure. Guess they didn't believe me.

Have to tell you something about the colonoscopy. I asked when I could leave, nurse said I needed to pass gas. I said well I have been. She said well I didn't hear any, so I let a big one rip and said do you hear that. I can't believe that I said or did that. That is so unlike me - well maybe not after everyone looking, touching, examining, scoping, surgery and fingers in the rectum. Things just change down there and you lose your dignity, but in a good way. Guess I just wanted to leave. :)

We all have to go on as life deals us, but God, family, this board and friends get us through most.

This has been a scary test for me since this was my first colonoscopy since diagnosis in Nov, 2008. My goodness hearing "everything looks so good" was music to my ears.

    YAY!!
Kim, can I tell you that I would have done the same exact thing? I mean about ripping one? If they're so dog gone happy to hear someone pass gas, I'd give em what they want. I'm a nurse and when I take care of C-section surgery patients, I love to hear them pass gas. I know things are working. "Yay! you can have food, now!!"

Having cancer is the scariest thing I've ever been through. Knowing it can sneak back is even scarier. So glad that things looked good.

    Needed to hear that, too!
What a hilarious post, Kim! After browsing the posts this morning, and hearing about Peter and Louann, i seriously needed a laugh. Thank you so much for that!

You're right, there is no more dignity or shame left for us after everything we've been through. It's like that taboo simply never existed.

I would've loved to have seen the nurses face! Talk about your Kodak moment!

Congratulations on the clean scope! That's the way they'll all be!

    Hugs,
    Krista

    OUTSTANDING!!
So happy for your news, and the part about how you got to go home, you made me laugh out loud. It is funny the things we will do our say now that we would have never seen ourselves doing pre-cancer. I am so glad for you and yours and may this and every summer to come bring you happiness and peace.

    Ha!
    Kim,

First of all, I'm very glad about your all clear today! Just what we like to hear!

Secondly, I think of you as such a gracious, quiet person. It just tickled me to pieces to read about you ripping one. Showed a little attitude that time, my friend! *L*

    *hugs*

Glad to hear your scope was good. How can you not pass gas when they pump you so full of air during the procedure.

    Thanks
Thank you for all your great responses and about the picture. This test has been so weighing on my mind so glad to have it over with. Decided that a new hairdo was in order for a weight lighted off my shoulders. Thanks for all your support.

    Hugs! Kim
