No--I don't have mine yet, but I have a question for those who have had this test and your
subsequent numbers. If I recall correctly the company geonome or whatever they are--their bogey I thought was 18 or 20,under that and you were good to go with NO CHEMO.When I was given an oncologist to go to by my original surgeon he told me the oncologist wants a number UNDER 11. I'm like--'scuse me??? Has anyone had a disparity in numbers like that? I
should have my results hopefully this week, but I'm curious.I see the oncologist on the 25th where we discuss my treatment.
Oh-Katz77--we are correct age has no bearing--or shouldn't. Perhaps the nurse mis-spoke,
I didn't ask for a clarification by the doc since he specifically emailed me that YES we are doing the test. Guess he didn't want me to launch that tactical nuke in his office!!

    oncotype test
When I was diagnosed with BC, the Oncologist asked if I would partake of a study. I am stage 1 cancer grade 2, Er+. I had a lumpectomy with Radition. They would start with the Oncotype test. The study was to find out the odds of cancer reoccuring. He explained to me that if my score was high, I would definately have Chemo, If it came back low, then I would just do Tamoxifen. If it fell in the middle then I would be in the study. I guess that this is the area that the best Dr.s don't agree on the treatment. It is the Gray area. My score was 8. Which is low. Meaning my chance of cancer reoccuring was low. In the study, the computer would draw whether I had chemo, or not. I think that if I had fell in that middle part, I am not sure what I would have done. I would listen to your Dr. and do what makes you feel comfortable. You want to make sure you have little chance of your cancer reoccuring. Best wishes. Mary

    My Diagnosis
I was diagnosed, Stage 1, Triple Negative and the Oncotype DX score was 34 which I thought was the recurrence rate. My PCP told me the 34 score meant over a 50% chance of recurrence which is why I was treated so aggressively.

    OncotypeDX was a big dilemma
In my head I wanted everything done unless I was less than 10. In the TailorRX study 11-20 is the gray area where they are not sure if chemo does any good. Anything over 20 they treat more aggressively.

My score was right in the middle at 16, and I wanted to do everything possible to fight this, so I had 4 rounds of T/C. My Onc would not let me do the study because I said if I fall in the mid range I WILL have chemo. He gave me his recommendations before I had my score, and I went with his treatment plan.

You made me laugh with "launching a tactical nuke in his office!" We should all be so involved in our health care decisions!

Here's to low scores! Best of Luck - Carrie

I am waiting to get results
I am waiting to get results to. I go on the 22nd. I had Stage 1, 1.4 cen grade 1, + 6 areas of DCIS,.no nodes. My surgeon told me if it where her she would have chemo. But I have no idea what the Onco test will show. I am comfortable with the number 10 as well. I really don't want to take any chances in some randem cell being left behind! The 22nd will be the first time I have seen an Oncologist

Praying for a low score for
Praying for a low score for you on the test. I think we have to do everything to fight cancer and never look back and go "what if". Sometimes chemo is left up to you to decide if that 2% or 4% or whatever percentage is worth it to stop a recurrence. Only you can decide that. Good luck!

The web site has a sample report on it.

    http://www.oncotypedx.com/BREAST/HealthcareProfessional/ReadingReports.aspx

My wife's score was a 47; so far, that is the highest one I've seen, and that translates into a 32% recurrence rate; so I think Pat's PCP may have been incorrect in stating her 34 meant a 50% recurrence rate.

They break it down into less than 18; 18-30; and greater than or equal to 31 (I don't know why they don't just say greater than 30 to be consistant). They are very nice over the phone and will give you an estimated completion date if you call and ask. I needed them to fax the report to my wife's second opinion doctor, and they were very helpful.

Oncotype can't give you the results
They told me that they were not able to give the patient the results, only the doctor. Some California law. They also do their own ER/PR;HER2 testing.

    Taylor-RX
In this study/trial--from what I've read is it me or does it seem to be redundant with the
oncotypeDX which is supposed to help you decide if chemo is good for you(well--not "good" but part of the path). With the Taylor plan aren't you taking chemo along with the antiestrogen meds? I was told I'd have to be on anti estrogen meds for 5-10 years--which to me is a rather large spread of time.Other thing I noticed was it mentioned "pre"menopausal women, but not too many post menopausals...unless I just missed it.

That makes sense. I think I saw a lady post somewhere that her ER/PR Her2 status came back different from them that it did on her origional pathology report. Should be interesting to see what they say! I wonder if they also give a grade of the Tumor?

My Oncotype results didn't include grade
TulsaMom, for me, the grade was included in the surgical pathology report on the tissue removed during my mastectomies.

Kinda goofy Oncogype result: The score for one breast was 23 (equals 15% recurrance rate). Other breast had a 13 score (9% recurrance rate). I was told this represented an intermediate risk, and I chose to do chemo.

    TulsaMom
Both tumors were grade 2 Invasive Lobular. (Also had DCIS and LCIS). Tumors were small: 1 cm in left breast and 3 mm in right (part of it might have been removed in the biopsy, they thought).

The supposedly healthy left breast was removed prophylactically but turned out to have "worse" cancer than the right. Lucky decision to have bi-lateral mast.!

    Mine was 20
And I opted for the chemo.

I was also offered the study, and my score would have put me in the randomized group, but I wanted to make my own decision and hit this with everything I have available.

My cancer was IDC 1.3 cm, grade 1, clear nodes.

I'm glad I had the Oncotype, it really helped me make that decision, as I was really leaning toward not doing chemo due to the possible long-term side effects.

I'm adding my hopes and prayers for a low score for you!
