I thought I might share some good news from the house of "greybeard"; Several years ago my
middle daughter moved to Utah to go to school. Well as things turned out, she ended up
meeting a wonderful young man who is now my Son-in-law, and they have added two more grandchildren to our family, bringing the total to four, and soon to be five as another one will be ariving in Oct!

They decided to move back to here and they arrived Sat. night. In fact I saw 11:45pm for the first time in quite awhile as we were both to anxious to sleep. They will be staying with us for as long as it takes for them to get established, jobs and a place of their own and we are quite excited about the whole scenario. Today for the first time in quite awhile, we have visited them a few times out there, I had all three of my daughters in our house again. We shared two meals together, played with the Grandchildren so much that I know (paw-paw) will be feeling it tommorow and just enjoyed a "family day.

I am pretty sure I had a "sh#t eatin" grin on my face all day. At one point I had to go upstairs as I didnt want my kids/grandkids seeing there "old man" tear up. I went up to my room, and with that same grin on my face sat on the bed and cried tears big as biscuits for having been given this wonderful blessing. This is what we all fight so hard for, another day of the joy this world is full of if you chose to see it.

Just realized I have seen Midnight now LOL. Thank goodness my grandkids still take naps I have another excuse now and I sure do enjoy my new "nappin" buddies! I'll have to post some pictures tomorrow, I am sure I can pick a few from the hundred or so my wife took, :)

How wonderful to have your family together again with you - and growing too:)

Wonderful! Thanks for posting this. I have a vivid picture of all that joy!

If I may share a similar (?) experience. Learned recently I have had another recurrence and have to start treatment again. BUT, this week: my eldest arrived home from college, my younger finished high school, my sister and niece are arriving for a 10 day visit, that youngest has his prom, and my husband is having a Big-Number birthday party.

And my darling oncologist has agreed that The Medical World can wait one week, till these family festivities have been celebrated appropriately.

    Life is good!

There is nothing like having your whole family together. And this kind of exhaustion is different from the usual; so much more satisfying. I hope you enjoy every moment. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Tears as big as biscuits...
What a great line, but I do the same thing. I absolutely LOVE my entire family. Neices, nephews, in-laws, out-laws and siblings. I LOVE them and I love spending time with them. It makes what we go through worth it all. I don't have any grandkids (yet), but it won't be too long. Maybe under 5 years. LOL

I love reading posts like this. LOVE it!! Chris, you've absolutely made my day!!

I'm sorry you have to repeat treatment again, however, I agree with Anne. What a great attitude! You do have a great onc. Have fun with your family.

    Thanks Chris. Loved reading
Thanks Chris. Loved reading your post. I have my daughter home for 2 weeks. Seems like she has been away at school most of the time for the past 7 years. I'm loving having my baby home:) We are expecting a new Grand in November ( Son & DIL in Seattle ) Our other Grand just turned 11 so it is time. Guess I'll be hopping on a plane for the NW about middle of Nov.

Thanks for such a great post.

Makes me want to tear up tears as big as biscuits just reading your post (love that saying). Just found out that my daughter is coming home from the army to live with us for a couple weeks with a granddaughter I've never ever seen (shes active military). She is pregnant with her second. Way to go PawPaw. You are a great guy :)

    What a beautiful post Chris.
What a beautiful post Chris. I could just picture you with your family all around you feeling real grateful. I read a quote that says, "being with children heals the soul." I have two grand kids myself and can so relate to the total and exhausting joy they bring. Nothin like great nappin buddies too! I am so happy for you. Will look forward to seeing the pics.
