After spending 2 1/2 hours Monday at the hospital with the pre-op team, blood work, tests, etc. I was finally okayed by the dr. I was dxed in Sept. 09 with IDC, 3 tumors and lymph node involvement, been on Femara all these months, I was starting to feel like I was going backwards with all the health setbacks. Of course I'm a little apprehensive but I want to get this masectomy over with and start the radiation. Surgery is set for Thursday, April 15, at 7 AM CST. Have to be at the hospital at 5 AM, probably won't sleep much Wed. eve but looking forward to getting this over with. For all of you who will be in the operation room with me, you're going to have to get up mighty early. Or you can just sleep in and I'll feel your love and support. LOL. Will post as soon as I can. Take care everyone and thanks for being here for me. See you soon!

Green Light!!! How wonderful Sunrae~ no wonder I felt the extra warmth of the sun today~ it
was YOU beaming at good, long awaited news!

No need for us to sleep in during your surgery...I believe that the surgical teams are quite used to maneuvering around us as we show up and fill up the operating / recovery rooms of so many of our Kindred Spirits! We are, I think, part of the "fine print" on your
    pre-surgery consent forms!

Sleep well and know that we are not only with you, but cheering you on!!!!

  • Way to go!
    Sunrae,

I am so excited to hear your good news!

I guess I better go to bed early tonight if we have to be at the hospital at 5:00 am. No problem, I'm a morning person. I'm gonna bring a sweater with me...it's pretty cold in those operating rooms! And tell the docs you want some slippers to wear! lol

Don't worry about a thing! We all are gonna be there for you!

Please post as soon as you can or have someone else post to let us know how you are doing...We all care.

    Talk to you soon.

    Hugs and prayers,
    Trish

P.S. A little bit of advise: Make sure you do all of your post-op exercises as instructed. It will certainly help you in the long run to keep flexibility in your arms. And a soft stuffed animal placed under your armpit is very comforting (seriously, my nurse gave me this hint). Looks funny, but it helps!

You've waited for this for a long time. You'll do great. It is so funny that girls posted about the stuffed animals. I had totally forgot...or chemo brained....that my sweet, amazing, best in the world breast surgeon has these heart shaped pillows that she gives her patients and you just wake up and they are there stuffed under the arms. You know what else she does...she uses cookie cutters and her and her staff cuts the dressings that go on your breast area and aroung the drain tubes into shapes that match your personality. Like she put double hearts with an arrow through them on each breast area and for my drain tubes she put little hands and she told me she thought I would like that because she wanted the hands to signify my little daughter holding me. It makes me misty eyed just thinking about it. I just love sharing and reading all the posts because it makes you remember back and a lot of it is very good memories....just kinda forgotten, but I am so glad you all made me remember that! Sunrae....you will be thought of so much tomorrow! I wish you the very best! Stay strong!

Doin the happy dance for you!...you deserve it. It is truly a day to celebrate. I remember how good it felt just knowing the waiting was over, and it was finally time to get on with things. You'll do just fine. Its really not nearly as bad as you might expect. I had no actual surgerical pain, the incision areas were and still are numb. Pain meds are definatly needed for the muscle pain. I mentioned to the nurses that sleeping on my back was painful, and they helped me to turn slightly on my site, and propped me with pillows, was much better. So, dont forget to ask, they will try anything that might help. When you feel that comfort and warmth just before anesthesia, know its all your sisters here holding you close.
    Hugs, and prayers.

    YAY!
I'm so glad you will have your surgery tomorrow as planned! I happen to get up @ 5 am, so count me in! I'll have to leave briefly @ 8 for my last radiation, which I'm sure if you weren't strapped down, you would be there to help me celebrate! I pray that all goes well with your surgery and remember to smile big when you wake up and realize that the beast has FINALLY been removed from you body. I know you've waited a long time for this, Sunrae... thank GOD this day has finally come!

Lots of love, good wishes & prayers... Mar
