I am doing my prep for my surgery. I have to be at hospital at 5:15 in the morning. I seem to be very emotional today. I guess I am scared really bad. I know that this is a major surgery, but I can do it. I have to get my mind and spirit in the right place before tomorrow. It is just very scary!!!!

    good thoughts
Christy, I'll be sending good thoughts your way from now through tomorrows surgery. As you said you can do this, think about all the good that will come after this is done instead of the surgery itself. It is another step in the right direction and you will have many good thoughts and prayers heading your way through out. Bless you, and here is to a speedy and full recovery!!

    Fear Before the Battle.....
    Hi Christy

Completely understandable! As the countdown begins and surgery looms, it is a time of reflection and the knowing that you did all that you could do to make this happen.

And now, it is out of your hands and control, and this can sure be a crazy time alright!

All I can do to comfort you somewhat is remember that you have won the "golden ticket" for resection. This is what you worked so hard for and now you've won the opportunity to go for the cure with the surgery.

I am sending you best wishes and am hoping for the best possible outcome for you - I know you've worked very hard for this, but I know also, how apprehensive one gets the day before and the hours leading up to being at the hospital.

You've already got it! You're getting your "mind right to fight."

Know exactly how you feel, scarier than chemo and rad which
take place over time whereas surgery is all at once. I trusted my surgeon totally and had only one simple request of him: "Keep me alive". I was more scared of this, even tho I knew I'd be unconscious, than I think I ever was in my life and even tho I knew for months this was to be....When tomorrow morning is D-Day, or "O- Day " Op-Day)to be more precise, tho D-Day applies as well, as the start of another front in the battle, when tommorrow is THE day,its difficult NOT to be bervous, etc the night before.... Wishing you a successful procedure with a swift, minimal pain recovery......steve

    prayers for you
    Hi Christy,

As others have already said, your worries and fears are normal & many of us have faced those same fears and worries the day before surgery. Where are you having your surgery? Forgive me for forgetting, but I've been so preoccupied lately that I think I'm getting everyone mixed up- is it a liver resection you're having? Regardless, I will be thinking of and praying for you- for a successful and smooth surgery, of course, but also for you to have a sense of calm before going into surgery and that your recovery will also go smoothly and without any kind of complication. This is the day you've been waiting for and dreading at the same time. It is here & I believe all will go well.

    Take care dear,
    Lisa

Wishing you all the best with your surgery tomorrow. Make sure you, or someone close to you, comes on to post letting us know how the surgery went. We are all family and worry until we hear something.

    Take care - Tina

    We live in amazing times...
    Christy:

Tomorrow morning at 5:15 a.m. I hope that the earth moves for you and for your surgeons.

We are so lucky to live in such amazing times with science and medicine making such extraordinary strides. I take comfort in that realization every time I think about my husband's care. I hope you, too, can find comfort in that realization.

My good thoughts will certainly be with your tomorrow morning.

You got it right in your post. You CAN do it!

Good luck with your surgery. Yes it is very scary and you probably won't see this entry until afterwards but, when I had surgery I tried not to think about it and just went through the day to day life until the Sat before surgery which was not until Thurs. I had to work 7p=7a and walked into the hospital where I work and had my surgery and just started crying. I could not work or even talk about it I just cried. I really felt better and went back home and felt a lot of pressure lift off my back. Let us know how you do when you feel better and want to talk. Again Good luck. Ann
