Who would be interested on going on a cruise with CSN members and their families?
I would be willing to call and work with Disney or Carnival to see what they could do for us.

I would love to meet everyone that has touched my heart and soul on CSN.

We would have to include Greta since she is a part of us.

What year and when and where?

I DO NOT do big boats!
Not me. I DO NOT do big boats - they are going to sink!

Seriously - I think it's a great idea to try to put together BUT there is no way I would go on a cruise. Has to do with really bad experiences I had on a trans Atlantic voyage when I was 6. It's all I can do to be on a big boat (even an aircraft carrier) while it's still tied to the pier. Yacht sized and smaller are fine though.

    Oh That is Sooooo Awesome
I was looking at going on a cruise in August to celebrate my finishing chemo and because the rates are cheaper for some reason in August. Hope you get somemore takers. I am so excited I was having trouble typing.

    Just a big kid.

    This sounds WONDERFUL!
I sure hope there are more takers on this one! I absolutely love cruises and a chance to meet so many that have 'touched my heart', as you put it, Margo, would be a real dream! What a really wonderful idea!! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. As far as when, I would go with the flow, and as far as where, I would hope somewhere WARM! I really hope this pans out!

    Cruise = FUN
I've been on Princess Lines a couple of time. But the absolute funnest cruise I ever took was something called a "Barefoot" curise, that was on an updated schooner. It was very casual. I think the ship held about a hundred+ guests. I liked it because there wasn't all the changing clothes for dinner, and learning your way around a large ship. But yeah, a cruise might be just what the doctor ordered.

    Rague,
Okay, I had the strangest picture jump into my head, you on the Titantic, getting into the lifeboat with your family. Now I realize that is impossible because that was 1912. I guess it was the really bad experience on a trans Atlantic voyage statement and that was about the worst situation I could think of. but I understand those past experiences affecting us though.
While I would love to do a cruise I cannot see us financially being able to do this. I hope that Margo can put something together and that lots of people are able to do it. Sounds like a very fun idea.

I am old but not old enough
I am old but not old enough to have been 0n the Titanic! LOL
Thankfully nothing tragic happened on our trip - 'just' 3 incidents tht badly scared a little 6 y/o who didn't understand what was going on. 1952 - maiden voyage of the United States out of NY to Europe (Mom, G-mother, infant brother and me). First day out there was a Lifeboat Drill - OK logical enough to an adult but not my mind then - "Lifeboat" was to get in if the boat was sinking with you wearing a life jacket and a "Drill" was when Daddy took his soldiers down to the Parade Field and marched them around. Sinking boats and marching around on dry land have nothing to do with each other (to my 6 y/o mind). Also they had taken the extra adult sized life jackets out of our stateroom and not put the child and infant sized ones in. The next problem came when we went through a hurricane in the N. Atlantic, our stateroom was quite a ways above the water line but the waves started crashing over our porthole and the stewards came in and attached a huge metal thingy over the porthole - so as my mind was already stuck on sinking, the metal thingy was to keep from sinking but because the boat was rocking and rolling so it might not work. Then - we had headed down to eat but I had forgotten my doll so Mom let me run around the corner and go get her - well while I was in the room getting her the air lock doors were closed (for testing). Again they were to keep the boat from sinking so something really bad must have happened and to save everyone else they had to close them because it was just 1 little girl and her doll that were in the area. When they got the airlocks open, I was calmly sitting on the floor talking to my doll that everything would be OK- we were together and everybody else would be OK. So yeah - the adult thinking mind knows that the possibility/probability of a big boat sink is quite remote (though possible) - I can't overcome the memories. Hubby spent 20 years USN (19 1/2 of them we were married) and I've been on aircraft carriers while tied to the pier quite a few times but it's all I could do to walk on them, the flight deck and hanger deck werent too back because I could see the land and figure how I could jump off IF it were to sink while tied to the pier but to go into the work areas it was like going into a tomb for me. Hubby knows how I feel about big boats but I never tried to get him to leave the Navy - he was comfortable on them and my phobias about sinking are based on childhood BAD experiences and clearly aren't the norm. I was happy to put our sons (12 and 13 at the time) to meet Hubby in Hawaii on is last cruise to come back to San Diego - I can't foist my real (to me but not logical) fears upon them.

SO no - I will not go on a cruise. If there is a cruise get together then I would love to fly into a port of call and meet up with me staying on shore.

    (Sorry for rambling on so!)

    Rague,
i didn't think that was a ramble at all. I think it was a very interesting story from you childhood and I can see why you feel the way you do. It would have felt like the Titantic going to sink for a child. When I was young we got to tour a submarine and I was terrified. It was so closed in and then they talked about going deep under water and that was it. Can't even get in the submarine ride at Disneyland and I can see that it isn't even totally underwater, nor does it submerge, but I can't do it. I am okay in elevator so it is not small spaces just subs. But then the chances I will ever be on a sub are remote to the extreme. We all have some phobia or some fear that is beyond our control. It just is there and I think they are darn near impossible to overcome. And for some, like your ship one and my sub one can be easily avoided, thank goodness.
I personally like hearing about our experiences beyond cancer, it paints a picture of the person for me. Like our pictures from childhood and our pets etc. It makes us a total package. And that is wonderful. So no ships for Rague (and I can't blame you there) but I like that you could fly in and hook up. I hope this pans out for everyone. Would be just lovely for you all to meet.

    Sorry~ though I have had
Sorry~ though I have had wonderful cruise experiences, if I am cruising with my Reggie, (who has never been on a cruise and is not too keen on the idea because the only time we ever see "Cruise News" is 300, 400 or 1,000 passengers getting the flu) it will be a European cruise! I figure he probably only ever going to cruise once, so I am opting for Switzerlsand, Germany, France, etc on that small ship!

It does, however sound like a grand idea for those of you who can, want to, and do go on "The View Cruise". Well, what else would you call an assembled group of women who will have so much to say about so many things and all getting together at the same time???? LOL

Enjoyed your exchange and information. I am the same way about enclosed spaces. I once paid the ticket to ride up to the top of the St. Louis Arch. Sat in the small capsule for all of 30 seconds before I jumped up and told my friends I'd meet them later.

Hope to Meet for CSN "convention"
Margo, I would so enjoy a CSN "convention" or reunion. Cruises really aren't my thing, either, though. I'd be on anti-motion sickness patches the whole time as well as managing a mild claustrophobia thing. Of course, cost is always a consideration.

Thank you for being willing to help organize some kind of gathering. I would love to hear the highlights of any cruise that you all take, and would be interested in some other type of gathering. Joe and I had hoped to meet up with Cat and her Robert in Las Vegas last Fall. I've heard that many times great deals can be had for LV trips...Just a thought. Again, would love to hear tales from any CSN-Boat episodes!

I own a boat. Never been on a big one. How could I go on disney without the grandkids. Think a CSN convention/reunion is a great idea where ever it takes place.

    21 days and counting . . .
21 days and counting and I will be on the Carnival Liberty! We booked this cruise the week of my first Chemo treatment. My Mom and Dad, sister and her family are going with us. 7 days of celebrating the end of a very long but thankfully successful journey through the BC world. I have 3 days left in radiation and then a few weeks to heal before heading out to dance with NED on our Liberty Cruise!! I can't think of a better way to celebrate!!
