Hello to all my wonderful CSN friends,
My dad has had more than enough of this horrible cancer. I can not blame him. He put up a great fight against the ec and won, but when it went to his liver in December, it has been all down hill. He did finish one round of chemo for the liver cancer, but that just about killed him. He has many side effects, has now developed a cough and has trouble breathing. Now has pain in his right lung. When he takes his pain meds he is so out of it all he does is sleep all day and all night. Is this any quality of life? Is this any way to live? As a family we have agreed that the answer is no. We can not force him, nor do we want to. The dr at UVA said that it is time to let him go. We do not know how much longer he will be with us, but we will make sure it is the best time for him.

Thank you all for all of your many prayers, thoughts, and concerns this past year. We and I would not have made it as far as we did without you.

I will continue to come to this board to catch up, and to help any new members. Thinking and praying for all of you daily.
Love,
Tina

    Tina, I'm so very sorry
Well, we've been fighting this together. Our dad's really have so much in common. I don't have any words of wisdom. All I can say is how very sorry I am and I totally know how you feel. I will hold you close in my prayers as we go through the last days with our dad's. The emotional roll coaster is finally coming to end of the ride for us both. My parents are trying one last thing, not sure how I feel, but whatever makes them happy. They are flying to California this morning to see a Holistic/Alternative Medicine Dr. My dad is calling him a witch doctore, but wanted to grant my mom this one last favor. After that, he's said that he just wants to die in peace. I pray he can make the trip back home. BUT, if the good Lord calls him home, at least my mom will be with her sister's and her mom. They will be gone for about 7 weeks. I'm nervous, but I want them to feel like they've done everything they possibly can. Please keep in touch. Here's my email. erika.m.garza@census.gov

Tina my thoughts and prayers are with you
    Tina,

I have been where you are almost the same time just a year ago. It is so sad to think that this beast is taking another beautiful life. I miss my Dad and think of HIM every day. It is so painful.
My only advice to you is live in the moment the here and now while he is here is with you. I prayed with my Dad, held his hand and told him how much I loved him and still do. If you need me just send me an e-mail nmantovani@comcast.net. I will be praying for you and your family. Peace to your father as he overcomes this beast and one fine day we will all be together again with no more pain.
    Sending hugs Nicole

    So very sorry
    Tina-
I am so sorry to hear about you Dad. Treasure the time you have with him. Tell him how very proud you are of him for the courageous battle he fought, but it's ok now....he needs to find peace.
You have been a good daughter and have been right there for him through his fight. You and your family are in my prayers.

It does come down to quality of life...just know we will be here for you & your dad through thick & thin. William's post may help now and during the hardest times.

    Dear Tina,
So sorry that your Dad's fight is winding down but from the love you have expressed, it sounds like all of you have made the right decision. Thank you for all your thoughtful responses to our problems and troubles stated on this board. I only wish that your Dad could be more comfortable at this stage. Have you gotten a hospice group to help, sometimes they might know a way to keep the patient more alert but in no pain, but whatever way that your Dad won't suffer will be best. My prayers are with you, your Dad and your family at this time. prayers always,

I am so sorry that you have to write this post. But I know that you know you took great care of your father. Their is a reason why this cancer is called the beast. Your family is doing the right thing. Having him have no value to life isnt good either. You have helped me out SOO MUCH and I want to thank you for that. If their is ANYTHING I can do for you pleases please let me know.

    God Bless

I am so sorry. Please know that you and your family are doing the right thing! It's a hard decision to make, I know it was hard for me and Steve to make that decision, but I am glad we did! Know that we are all here to help and support youin any way that we can. I am so glad I had everyone on here! I will keep you and your family in my prayer!
