George had his onc visit yesterday. And the news sounds good to me. He continues to do very well, lots of the lung mets are gone, the rest are smaller. Liver same thing. Blood work good. Cea went up from 19.1 to 20.0, pa laughed, said don't worry that is nothing, and yes, probably cells dying off or just the test itself, from a high of 596 10 minths ago, 20.0 is really very good. She said that they really worry with a significant jump. The example she used if some is stable at a 6 to 10 and it jumps to 20, that is a red flag and they investigate right away. I asked about radiation options and the answer is just what I expected, to stop treatment now to pursue other avenues could send the cancer into overdrive and we are not quite there yet. I don't know if she is right or wrong on that one, about pursuing other options now. The oncologist wants to keep radiation options on the back burner for now since chemo is really doing its job and we should let it keep doing its job, for now. Maybe they are right. Anyway, good news on this end or at least it sounds that way. George was happy with this visit and also happy to get me off his back, at least for now, about seeing a radiation oncologist. (I still think he should do it, if only for peace of mind that what we are doing is the right thing for now, but it is really his call). Have good one - Tina

    GREAT News
There's that old saying "if sometime's not broken, don't break it". It sounds like he is still responding well to treatments. It's good to keep an ace up one's sleeve too when possible (radiation).

    Ace in the Hole :)
    Great news, Tina

This sounds reasonable from what you described - to carry on chemo while it's going so well. Radiation will be your "ace in the hole." Like Phil said if it's not broken...

What terrific news in your battle - may you enjoy some peace with this good news. Thanks for sharing :)

    Stories like these
Stories like these are such a great source of encouragement for us as we start our journey of our son fighting this battle. When you get a dx of cancer it is so scary and it is really scary being the parents sitting there hearing this about their child but it is really encourging to hear the success stories, it means there is a chance for our son. Thank you for sharing your story.

    Fantastic Tina. Avoiding
Fantastic Tina. Avoiding radiation for now seems like a good plan to me. Tell George I said to keep on walking softly and bashing the he11 out of those tumors with a big stick.

    Good news for sure
Glad the news was encouraging and that the current treatment seems to be doing the job.

Never hurts to have an alternate plan in mind, but when something seems to be working continuing seems like the best current choice.

Glad also to hear the positive attitude...that goes a long way in the fight.

Best wishes for more good news in the future,

    Marie
