IHas anyone had interperitoneal chemo for serous cancer?

I have Intraperitoneal metastasis from werous uterine cancer. I am wondering if any of you women have take this and how you did with it. It sounds grueling and contraversial.

    Has anyone had intraperitoneal chemo for serous cancer?
    I apologize for all the typos. I have serous uterine cancer which is very similar to serous ovarian cancer. Have any of you had intraperitoneal chemo? I am trying to learn about this and how well women tolerate this versus other options. I would value your response very much. We are a tough pack of gals!

    IP chemo
    Hi Diane,
    I was dx with stage 4 papillary serous ovca. I had 3 rounds of IP cisplat and taxol and 5 round of IV carbo/taxol. Like the other Nancy stated they give you lots of fluids with IP chemo. They swelling does go down. Nearing the end of my treatments it was wearing on me I will admit. I did have lots of gastro issues such as pain, diarrhea with extreme urgency and constipation. After all is said and done I'd do it again if they thought it would be helpful. Good luck and let us know how you make out!

    I wanted to do IP chemo but
    I wanted to do IP chemo but my doctor nixed it. He said only aobut 40% of all patients who get it can tolerate the full course, and if they have to stop it and wait for you to recover, it pushes back the time you can start "regular" chemo.

    He does give some of his patients IP chemo, but he decided during my initial surgery not to implant an IP port, due to the extensive surgery I had and the bowel obstruction I developed pre-surgery.

    I asked about it before I started Carbo/Taxol IV and he still would not do it. Now he says I got the same results without going thru "all that".

    When I met with my surgeon, he said basically the same thing Carlene. He was one of the first in this area to do the chemo-wash and the IP therapy, but he told me that, at least in my case, he didn't see a reason to risk the complications. Honestly, I was a little disappointed at first, because I really wanted to fire direct hits on the cancer inside me. However, in the end, I trust my doc to know what is best. If he thought it would benefit me, he would have told me so.
