I have a very dear friend who went with me to the hospital when I had my surgery in Jan. Met the surgeons and exchanged contact info, waited around until she was sure the mastectomy went well, then came back after 8 hrs to make sure she was there for me when I came out of surgery and said with me until she was sure I was alright (already late into the evening). She came each day and sat for several hours, brought me food, made sure I got what I needed, checked in with my daughter who was staying with another friend. Has brought over food at least once a week since. And she is a mom of two, okay her husband works and she doesn't need to however I really appreciate her being there for me and I know there are moments when it has taken her away from her family.

Yesterday she drove me to the port surgery and was there to pick me up with some great food and I was starving and then got me settled in at home.

Anyway the reason I am going on about this is because I really appreciate everything she has done so far and I know I am far from over however I would like to gift her with something for being there particularly during the surgeries.

My mother has gotten her kids olympic t-shirts and goodies as she lives in Vancouver. However I wanted to get my friend and possibly her husband something, perhaps a gift certificate for a very nice restuarant.

Would love some ideas for all you great women out there.

    Isn't it wonderful to have
Isn't it wonderful to have such a dear and caring friend? I'm sure she is doing this out of her love for you. I think a gift certificate for a nice restaurant would be very nice or perhaps a gift certificate for her to a spa for a massage, facial, etc. Whatever you decide, I'm sure she will be very happy and surprised.

If there is a day spa in her
If there is a day spa in her town ( or nearby) a massage/lunch is always a good thing!

I have a friend who always wears pins/brooches, and I have always admired them. She got me a cameo type pin at Christmastime. It is small, and so very pretty~ it looks pretty on a lapel or a scarf.

It is nice to have something tangible as a constant thank you! If I may be so bold, if you decide to get jewelry, I would pass on the Pink Ribbon motif! Nicer if you know she likes pansies, or hummingbirds or ladybugs and get something in that vein.

    Happy shopping! :-)

    Hugs,

    A massage, lunch or dinner
A massage, lunch or dinner certificates are great ideas. I also like Chen's idea about pins or brooches and yes, skip the breast cancer reminder stuff. Many of us aren't so much into them and I would shy away from giving someone else one. A guardian angel pin might be nice to let her know that you appreciate her being your angel. I think that what she did was very special and I know she would appreciate a token in thanks.
