Was diagnosed stage 3 ovarian cancer in June, 2009, after a total hysterectomy. Completed six rounds of chemo in November and getting stronger. The nagging pain and discomfort originally felt in mostly right lower abdomen is getting more intense and frequent. Should I be concerned?

    Nagging Pain
    Good Morning,
I am the same exact scenario as you. Surgery in June of 2009. Finished chemo in November. I had a nagging right abdomenal pain. Requested a CT scan. Scan was clean. It is scar tissue. An adhesion. I do not know if I spelled that right. It is wrapped around a nerve. Have you had a scan and what is your CA-125? Thank-You, Paula

Hi, I too had the same situation and several months later started feeling pain and bumps thinking the worst and it turned out to be scar tissue. Dr. said that is very common.

I haven't requested a CT scan yet. Am going to talk to docs this week and see what they recommend. My CA-125 was down to 4 in early December. I hope it's just scar tissue, but what can they do about it?

Thank you for responding. That's a comfort to hear. Did the pain just go away eventually or do you still deal with it?

    Scar Tissue
    Good Morning,
They are not going to do anything about it, unless it is really, really bothering you. If they do more surgery to fix it, you will have more scar tissue. I think they can go in and burn it with a laser. My pain was bad at first, but got better over time. Now it only flairs up once in a while. Ask for a CT scan. That should put your mind at ease. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!! PAULA

    Pain
Dear Rosepetalsgalore: I started feeling pain in my lower right abdomen and along the scar line of my hysterectomy and my oncologist took it very seriously and did a CT scan, and, indeed, the cancer was back and the CA-125 was elevated. I'm back on chemo with a recurrence. But during the exam, she wondered if it was scar tissue. She said it was hard to tell which. So it's worth letting your doctor know. It could go either way. I don't want to scare you, just telling you what happened with me. I'm glad I said something. They need to know what you're feeling -- otherwise they have no idea.

I pray it's just scar tissues.

    Blessings,

    Marty

    Several things
It could be adhesions, scar tissue, a nipped nerve, diverticulitis, and probably lots of other things. I think most of us have it in one place or another. A course of steriods might help if it is inflamation. You will have to really get the doctors' attention. I find just mentioning it is sometimes ignored. Saundra
