I haven't posted for ages but this board was a lifeline when I was first diagnosed in February 2007.

I've just had the results of my annual scan: ALL CLEAR! Such a relief ... I don't think much about cancer these days but once a year, when I have a scan, the Great Fear grips me once again ... After surgery I was told that, without chemo, my chances of surviving five years were about 30% (I seem to remember chemo boosted my chances to just over 50%). Anyway, here I am, three years on, feeling well and with no lingering after effects from chemo. Life is good ...

Thought it would be worth posting to give hope to newbies!

    That's great news!
    That's great news Catherine! Congrats!

I think a good state of mind and eating healthy, getting exercise and being at a healthy weight helps so much in life, as well as any health battle! Keep up the good work.

    Awsome.....
Hope I'm where you are years down the road, cancer is so fear gripping, scares the hell of me most of the time. And it's not fear of death, it's the fear of how my death would affect my family!

Thanks for posting, we need this type of GREAT information!

Congrats to you, and thank you for posting. It gives so many of us hope - whether we are still in treatment, or already been down that road and just like you, sit on pins and needles when it is time for those annual scans.

No lingering effects from chemo is exciting to hear too!

Thanks for your post! I really believe that I am totally free now of all cancer cells after having the resection of my colon (cancer mass in ceacum) but because of the many words of counsel from people whom i love and trust I'm going thru these chemo drug treatments. I've learned so much but at any time, I am ready to stop! If I have to endure to 12 I will gladly do so because so many people are seeing that 'cancer is not a death sentence'. Again, thank you for your victory report!!!!

Thank you for sharing your story. For those battling this disease, we need to hear these stories. It is wonderful you are cancer free and I know you will beat those odds! Stats stink. Marie

Hey Victory, you can do it,I did,so far at 5 years (almost) I have nothing good to say about chemo except the following:

I met wonderful nurses and doctors who were with me the entire time with support,

I learned patience and how to ask for what I needed.

I learned who I could count on and who bailed for reasons of their own.

Most of all the poison apparently worked as i am NED and feel wonderful.

I am better because of this experiance. I have a much more open heart. I look at the world with much "softer eyes".

    Best of all to you,Hanna

    WONDERFUL!
    That is fabulous news!

    Great to see you again.

Those same stats were given to me and I opted to not do the chemo anyway and am here 8 1/2 years later. Isn't that a great feeling when you beat the stats?

    peace, emily
